Kildare have confirmed Jack O'Connor as their new senior team football manager.

As revealed in last Tuesday's Irish Independent, the All-Ireland-winning manager is set for a dramatic return to inter-county football. O'Connor's name will go before the next meeting of the county board for ratification as Cian O'Neill's successor, with the ex-Kerry manager getting a three-year term.

Now more importantly - from kildare gaa itself

Kildare GAA are pleased to nominate Jack O’Connor for the position of Kildare Senior Football Manager for a three year term. The proposal will go before the September County Board meeting for ratification.

What does anyone think of the poor attendance at the Kerry vs Tyrone game last Sunday?
Not a lot

Its not due to ticket prices as the day before it was a sell out
Kerry supporters arent known for travelling until the final
Tyrone supporters may have gambled on a final
The game was on TV
The semi-finals should be played a week apart to generate more interest
Vert few neutrals would have been interested due to Tyrones style of play
Too many championship games -'super 8s are not working

-Dublin’s dominance
-6 day turnaround
-Ticket prices
-Fans on the go 7/8 weeks running (Tyrone anyway)
-Spectacle of modern football

Plus, semi finals aren’t a unique occasion now. Teams play at Croke Park every fart’s end, so it doesn’t feel like a big deal anymore.

Oh, and the Super 8’s are a pile of dung.
