As a neutral at the game I personally thought the ref done well for 60mins, got most of the calls right and was right to send the Shane’s player off. It was the 3 mins of injury time plus the extra 3 mins of injury time that he let himself down badly. You can understand why Shane’s are going mad and some of their players and management reacted the way they did at the end. 30mins +3mins injury time on the clock Shane’s was winning by 1 point, 30mins +4 grange got the equaliser, 30mins +6 grange got the winning point. Not a nice way to lose a county final .
The main mistake he made was only calling 3 mins injury time when he took 4 mins to send the player off. There were also other stoppages in the second half. He should have called 7 mins by my reckoning. Secondly, shanes players messed about throwing balls onto the pitch to slow grange frees in injury time and that added more time and gave the ref the excuse to add extra. Shanes lost that game through petulance. Our lads played to end, never gave up and likely did Rob them. However shanes just didn't concentrate on the game and spent far too long trying to wind our lads up and trying to enact the dark arts of the game. They reaped what they sowed. The ref was consistent in the fouls he blew all day and in that respect shanes made a criminal offence gifting us a last kick of a free to win it

To be fair, most of that is bang on, but Shane's did let themselves down in that 3 mins of injury time by lying down for at least 2 of it so no surprise he just kept adding it on, then they started throwing balls on to the field. Compare those tactics to seasoned campaigners like Cross who simply play hold ball and run the clock down rather than hope the ref falls for the tactic of just lying down.

The ref was right to play 6/7 injury time sure the Grange player was down for at least 5 mins over the senting off incident

Plus one of their coaches kept running across the pitch when Grange keeper was kicking the ball out

Why?
Did the ref kick wides during the game, did the ref hit bad passes, did the ref not mark his man better.......
Very easy to pick on the ref at the end of the game
Look at the mistakes players made from the first whistle
Just saying.....
And to condone violence on a ref, or anyone for that matter, is very low
But how about Bojo?

Camlough lads tried the dark arts . Didn’t work out for them . Best team won on the day . Mention to shane o Neil’s number 12 he was absolutely superb .

Also if Shane’s are looking for a scapegoat they should look no further than their maor Uiscel. His antics thinking he was the smart guy no doubtably went against his team , also the manager running behind a free taker showed up the integrity of opponent the Grange had today

Firstly I would congratulate Grange, but a draw would have been a fair result today.
Shanes were not on their own in the dark arts stakes today.
The Grange no 9 was throwing digs all day and got away with it, he got up and laughed after the Shanes man was sent off.
Ever team tries to pull a few strokes in a final to waste time, hood wink the ref or whatever.
Some you win.. you know the rest.

The additional minutes is always the minimum amount of minutes.
Shanes gamesmanship didnt pay for them and their antics at the final whistle were a serious let down for their club
Very unusual for the motm to come from the losing team - shows how well the no.12 played for Shanes throughout the game

I was behind the grange dugout and it was actually them that threw the balls on the field whenever they got the equaliser but yes Shane’s was at it too. All an all it was a very entertaining game.

There seems to be a growing trend of very bad referee calls this year especially in the championship. I do not condone the abuse or violence they are getting in any way but these bad calls are ruining the game we love. Too many players & team mentors are trying to fool referees and it doesn't make the job an easy one. I fear for the future of our game. WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD BE A REF??
