Why change a winning team.unless theres injuries etc...
If you've got.the.jersey on your back its yours
It'll be a 20man game on Saturday though - big open pitch and after the effort last Saturday there may well be need to put fresh legs in. And thats where I feel we will make a difference in that the bench can be strong and game changers.
Confident but they've been a tough nut over the years
Should make a few changes - to keep everyone on their toes and to use the squad more

Would rather just kick on with strongest team available and get points on the board. All other strategies can happen at a later stage.
Essential we guarantee Div 2 football as first objective. Can’t overstate this requirement. Then we can look at squad rotation and perhaps pushing for promotion if we continue playing well.

Too give everyone an opportunity
To keep everyone match sharp
To cope with a different attack eg big ff line as someone mentioned
To ensure nobody rests on their laurels and believes they have a nailed on place (first time in years we have no-one guaranteed a starting slot which can only be a good thing-Donaghy/forker is the closest to a certainty we have)
To keep it fresh as we move through the league and ensure there is fresh energy each game

Take your pick really?

I wouldn't be tempted to make too many changes this weekend. One or two max. Defo feel a lot of the forward line picks itself really. Turbitt, Grugan, Campbell, Rian O Neill and Oisin O Neill all nailed on to start. Leaves 3 or 4 players to fight it out for 1 jersey and I thought duffy done alright there last week. Possibly a bit harsh but if Jamie or Jemar were pushing for a starting berth it could be Oisin O Neill to Midfield and poss Sheridan missing out. Id be tempted to start McKay in the back line but would defo be lining out Burns, Forker, Donaghy, Cummisky, and likely McCabe as well. As others have eluded to, this will be a 20 man game on saturday night. A win would really set us up for a good push in the later stages of the league. Personally feel this is where the league starts as cavan will lose all 7 games in my opinion.

I would consider a couple of changes - definitely would have McKay at Fb to move Donaghy to CHB, perhaps at the expense of Conor O’Neill to strengthen the middle of our defence and I would look to have a strong partner for Grimley at midfield - could bring in JOB at the expense of Sheridan or bring Oisin O’Neill back and create room for Clarke up top. I would like to see Duffy get another run to build his confidence - I was surprised we took him off last week when we were cruising. So I will go with,

Hughes
Burns
McKay
McCabe
Cumiskey
Donaghy
Forker
JOB
Grimley
Duffy
Grugan
O’Neill
Turbitt
O’Neill
Campbell

That still leaves Morgan, Clarke, Shields and others who can come in and make a difference.

I watched the Colm Parkinson GAA show on Youtube yesterday and he was talking about how Laois were targeting Evan O’Carroll in the full forward line for marks, because of his size. So it could be a thought to bring someone into the full back line with a bit of size to try and combat that, like McKay. Or just try and put so much pressure on them in the middle third that they can't kick the ball into him. I'm tempted to just leave the team as it is. The team played well last week, no one looked off the pace. It's tempting to bring Clarke back in, but he didn't play at all during the McKenna Cup (I think that's the case!) and to just start him might not be the best for the team. Same with James Morgan. I think he's one of our best defenders, but isn't he coming back from injury and maybe just easing him in would be best. An away win against Laois who have been our bogey side for a few years now would be a real signal of intent for this season. Two wins from two would be massive for our promotion hopes.

Portlaoise journey poses tougher test for Armagh

Armagh will hope to banish the bad memories of Portlaoise as they take on Laois in round 2 of the NFL!

A really enjoyable piece. Points to our weakness though in the dying third where recently we seem to concede needless goals - Think Clare in Newry last year. We really do need to bring the "A' game this weekend.

For anyone heading down this evening for a night away, don't forget the auld passport to get back in again. Them southern ones won't cut it. Snarlene will be trying to keep foreigners out. Travelling tomorrow? Flash the harp and sail on, just remember the jack to get back! :D

You can guess who I'm winding up today!

Anyways, a big game against a team that lately we've stumbled against. Our test I guess. We have serious talent in the ranks, but still well documented weaknesses and we can be certain they will know us well and target the defence and keeper. I believe in Blaine and think he'll be perfect for this challenge. His place will as always be under pressure, so hopefully he will be allowed to relax and focus. WE need to lay off him. This "screaming" at him to take quick kick outs or get on with it, has to stop. We as supporters need to pressure them. Every chance we get to hassle their kick out, free taker, play acting, needs to be taken. We need to back our lads, not get on the back of our lads!

Travel safely. Enjoy the day, the game and eat outside their county. Support them in no way. Circle the wagons. This season is ours.

Now, darkened room and relax..................

I've just woke up out of the dark room!! Major commotion going on outside. Can a man not be left alone to wallow in self pity about the state of his county team? Then to find out we hammered Cavan!!! Will Laois send me back with the tail between me legs? The bogey team, the friggers.
