These are armagh senior footballers this junior and intermediate stuff is just crap
Correct me if I’m wrong but is Clifford from Kerry not an intermediate footballer?
Just won a senior title with East Kerry, which is why he’s not Kerry captain

Thought we were awful tonight and never looked like winning
First half was extremely poor.
Really feel our defence is porous.
Long trip home. Simply think it’s not good enough from the team and management.

Easy Kerry is an amalgamation his club is either intermediate or junior my point is these are our senior squad doesn’t matter what level their club is at they’re our players.
The point is that he plays against senior completion in Kerry.

There’s nothing wrong with having Junior players. Jamie Clarke would still be Jamie Clarke if he weren’t from Crossmaglen, but I find it troubling the majority of an intercounty team is made up of intermediate and junior players. 2 or 3 is fine, 10-15 is not

Which senior club players who aren’t in the squad should be in it?

apart from clarke & burns none of the others on the bench would make any differences most of them aren't good enough to play for armagh

This time last year, people might have said Og Burns wouldn’t be good enough. How do you expect to know if a player is good enough until he gets games, a la Burns. Give the lads a chance.

Some inexperienced maybe, but give the lads a chance before chucking them out the door. All of our 2002 team were inexperienced at one stage.

The fact he includes James Morgan in the not good enough to play for Armagh list shows his knowledge

Obviously not the result we wanted. Vulnerability in the spine of the defence needs to be sorted sooner rather than later. As another poster stated Portlaoise is notoriously bad for us to come out of with a result, therefore we can almost give it a bye although the first half performance just wasn’t good enough. Next week vs Kildare I believe is a must win - back to back defeats heading into 2 away games isn’t ideal momentum. The positives tonight were the return of Jamie and Jarly Og getting a full half behind him. We move forward to AG next week!

Just home...what are speed limits
.ahem ahem...

We kicked 2 balls into keepers hands while ours cost us directly 2 from knockouts. Our kick out strategy puts pressure on us.

Many were off the boil. Shields hooked early and McCabe I'm sorry isnt county standard. Aidan Forker was missed as was grugan.

We have big midfielders use em

Donaghy and burns were out best defenders again today and burns pass was the closest to a goal all game

Such a ridiculous statement. A loss against a team who drew with a relegated team from Division One away from home last week. The same relegated team who knocked us out of the Championship two years ago.

McCabe perhaps I can agree with given that he rarely featured last year but Donaghy and Burns? Have a look at yourself. Donaghy has been pivotal for us the last few years, vital in fact. Burns County POTY two years ago and last year confined Andy Moran to the bench after 30 minutes against Mayo. And for what it's worth, they were two of the better performers tonight at the back.

Realistically, Club players rarely feature with their clubs due to County commitments. So baring that in mind are you suggesting that the best players aren't picked? Or suggesting that due to where they are born and raised that if that geographical area happens to house a Junior team that they should be banished? Not everyone is born and raised in Crossmaglen or Armagh City. And not everyone from those areas are automatically deemed intercounty worthy because their club happens to be of Senior Grade. Archaic and uneducated view.

Typical mentality from an Armagh 'Fan'. First chance to complain or give out and it's taken but it we have any success you'll no doubt be top of the queue looking tickets.

A poor overall performance tonight but laughable that people decide to hit the panic button on the 1st of February. Plenty of positives to take with Jamie, Jarly Óg and Jemar all coming in and getting game time.

And who are missing pretty much their whole defence

Look the issue is not that players are playing for clubs outside the top division in armagh. Realistically armagh have 4 clubs at senior county club level so we have what we have. The issue is tactical suicide. It was there last week and it has been shown again tonight. The first thing I said to the aul fella last weekend was that that was not a 13 point difference of a game against Cavan. We were cut open up the middle with relative ease and consistency last weekend and if you look at previous posts, I have stated this has been a problem for a decade. As far back as the last time Mayo came on a Saturday night to the athletic grounds we have been cut open down the middle. That was 8 or 9 years ago. We just refuse to learn or refuse to implement a system. Now is not the time to throw the baby out with the bathwater. We have limited backs, we have useful forwards. We are were we are and need to work with it. We should not be conceding 16 points with so many behind the ball though. So it really needs resolved. We can beat kildare next weekend with a bit of effort. I say that because they are the type of team that allows you to play football. They have nice footballers who want to play an expansive game themselves. This suits us. Laois and fermanagh and their ilk do not. This is a bigger concern. We struggle against defensive minded teams and have done for a long time. We also know what lays in wait in the championship, a Gallagher minded defensive and counter attacking Derry, away from home. So the time to develop ia now.

Laois aren't a defensive minded side
