Coronavirus and the GAA

The footage at club grounds shows people standing close to one another
However how do you know if they are not in a household or social bubble?

Throughout this pandemic people have always been ahead of restrictions
There are unfortunately some people who don't care about the pandemic, some still don't think it's real, it'll never hurt them
However the figures now are showing that people are very aware of the symptoms and are getting tested, which is great. The figures also show more cases, which we have to accept as people move around, but how many are ending up in hospital?
Very, very few
The virus is hurting society more in the longterm than the number who have unfortunately died from it. No cancer screening,/treatments, people not checking out normal issues so the time bomb there is going to be huge. This isn't including the social bit, the human touch and people are being affected by it
Wear face coverings, social distance as much as possible, cough etiquette, wash the hands. They're not hard
In the North there are 96 icu beds. 3 are covid and there are 20 available
So what's the 73 occupied beds used for?

We need to live our lives. Pubs that are unofficially open should lose their licenses
Those hosting house parties and those attending should receive hefty fines
If I look after me and consider others and everyone else does the same we will be ok

Ach I’ve seen group of men together, I doubt they’re not all a squad of batchelors living in the family farm house.

I agree with a lot of your other points though.

A wee bit surprised that the seismic nature of the events of the last 24 hours has not generated some discussion here. I'd be quite sure the closing down of all GAA activity in our County was not a step taken lightly, and of course has been done so in the interests of the safety of our members, and the wider public, which should remain paramount.

However I'm thinking out loud here about the impacts that this may have on the rest of the season. We're already playing catch up in regards to club league fixtures and the addition of an extra week (at least ) will add to the pressure, before Under 19 is even discussed.

For our County lads, training in advance of one of our most important league games in recent years is going to be significantly disrupted, which is going to undermine our preparation and - when taken with the nationwide scale of the issue and impacts - has the potential to undermine totally the integrity of the competitions themselves. The same principles would apply to the Championships.

I'd imagine there has to be a real danger that the season will close with these competitions not finished.

Edited to say: Apologies - just realised it was being discussed elsewhere and have copied my post over there. Old age and all that!!

South Ireland 6 weeks lockdown from Wednesday
Yeah but elite sorts are exempted to allow the GAA to complete the national leagues and All Ireland championships.

Jeez Snarlene and her friends up on the hill may get ready to build a wall around Armagh after we win Sam this year. The celebrations will last for months. To be fair i don't think even the Mexicans could build it big enough!

I see a club in Waterford has been stripped of their county title for fielding a player in the county final, while he was awaiting a Covid result.

Are teams allowed to use the changing rooms now? Thought I heard something about Cavan using them before ET.

Utter joke what's going on in stormont
Politicians playing with people's lives last week and now they're going to close from 27th November to 11th December
What do they think is going to happen this coming week in shops?

Businesses that were teetering will go
Online sales through the roof
Peoples mental health will be severely affected
People's health will implode next year with all the missed diagnoses and lack of treatments
Golf courses closed joke of a decision

We have to live with this virus, vaccine or no vaccine. People are getting tired of the constant mixed messages, complacency sets in
I for one will do my bit but if I need to go somewhere to get something I will. If I need to meet relatives in their home or mine I will
We need human contact
