ARMAGH forward Tiernan Kelly is expected to miss the remainder of the inter-county season due to a blood-clot issue.

It is understood that the tenacious young half-forward became aware of a problem after a training session with his county and will now undergo tests to establish the root cause of the issue. A Hogan Cup winner with St Ronan's, Lurgan during his school days, Kelly was an Armagh Senior Championship with his club Clann Eireann late last year and went on to establish himself as a first-choice starter with his county throughout their Division One campaign. Strong and full of running, Kelly burst onto the scene in last summer's Ulster Championship with goals against Antrim and Monaghan and was a fixture in Kieran McGeeney's side all season. He went through the League with a string of impressive performances that produced scores in six games out of seven as Armagh consolidated their Division One status.

In the Championship, Kelly scored a fine point himself and did the spadework for another as Armagh briefly took the lead before Donegal took a grip on the game and ran out winners in Ballybofey.
Sorry to read that. Great lad and will be a huge miss.

Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

He's a dirty *******, a disgusting habit. Can we get Monaghan in back door draw or are they in the 2nd round?

No, we can get them. Three other Div 1 teams and 4 Div 2 teams, so we almost as likely to get someone we wouldn't be optimistic against.

Michael Murphy was shown up to day - looked like an old man against Rogers.

Derry on the handy side of the all ireland draw - unless a qualifier comes through, Derry could beat Galway to make the final ???

Derry probably have had a bit more success at underage than us in recent years but, still, they were in div 4 not that long ago and have shown that an Ulster championship is achievable.

I’ve beaten this drum for a long time now but Rory Gallagher & Derry have further proved my point. The ‘right’ manager can turn around the fortunes of a team that have previously been seen as poor or average.

He has been playing for Donegal for 15 years, the majority of which he has been their stand out player and would have a lot of miles on the clock. One of the greats and every county in Ireland would love to have him.

Draw dependent but from the back door teams the only dangerous threats to Derry would be Tyrone, Mayo or Donegal again (not sure if repeat pairings from Provincial finals are avoided). Would not bet against Derry making the final.

You do not think that Armagh with its motivated fit players and tactically asute management would be a threat to them?
