Disagree. If the discussion is about Galway being streets ahead of us, then they should have been able to deal with those long/high balls. But they didn't. They made a hash of it-not any thing to do with luck, but simply come down to their inability to have dealt with it. As I say, if situation reversed, that aspect of our defence would have been discussed over pages and pages on this forum.
Bit in bold. Seriously?
Again, they were 8 points better than Derry until the last kick of the game, so yes seriously I don’t think it’s not too big of stretch to believe that. But upon reflection 9 points is too big, if they were to play a meaningful match next Sunday and I was a bookmaker I’d price Galway -5.5. We were favourites going into that game this year but in hindsight that was undeserved.

Even that is a bit much. There was what, 2 in it when McCabe was sent off? I would say thats a fair reflection of the difference between the teams

I wouldn't even put that much.
Up to the 62 min, that game was on a knife edge. We had initial momentum, it swung back to them before we then started to get a good grip on things bringing it back to 2 ( after missing a free and a scorable opporunity from Nugent before that). They hadn't scored for 12 or so minutes and we were seriously pressing before that red card. Without that red card-that game would have really gone to the wire. That game and the teams themselves were so finely balanced that a red card at that time had a big effect and Galway were able to take advantage.
Galway were much more efficient than us-after the first few minutes, they rarely missed. But one could argue that Armagh had more variety to their game, albeit a little less measured and off the cuff. I would say that possibly at the end, Galway were possibly 1 to 2 points ahead of us, but we definitely had opportunites and that game was so much on a tight rope that an Armagh victory would not have been considered a 'steal'.
I don't agree they were streets ahead.

That's my take on it too. Said it before on here, but in the post match analysis there's been too much focus on the 6 point lead Galway had heading into injury time. I think that's been wrongly used as a barometer to compare the teams on the day. The sending off was a game changer - the momentum changed straight away and Galway pulled away from us. I don't believe that would have been the case had we kept 15 on the pitch. I never felt Galway would beat Kerry given the Jack factor and the way he's able to organise a team to win an All-Ireland. For Galway at their stage of development to beat Kerry they would have needed to be playing the 2021 version of Kerry, i.e. the one with a few flaws. This Kerry team are a typical O'Connor side - well organised, defensively tight and a pretty functional unit (not very flamboyant). Having said that Galway weren't that far away. There was enough in that performance to motivate them for next year. And that should give us some encouragement too. There's something there to take into next year and use to focus the minds for a strong push for an Ulster title.

The championship was like The Benny Hill Show.

They couldn’t get it over quick enough. Even taking away the no replay element, it was far too rushed. Usually it takes us most of the next week to digest a match, watch highlights, discuss it with people, live it again... no sooner was it over than we had to book more tickets, hotels, time off, babysitters etc. It was a lot of expense especially in these times.

Games weren’t allowed to breathe. There was a short build up, games on top of each other, provincials on the same weekend. Coverage was reduced and diluted.

The Hurling and football finals a week apart was silly. The great Hurling final was talked about all week, and then it was... oh aye, the football final is tomorrow. Is it? Jaysus, I forgot all about it!

It was all too rushed. It was as if both championships were an inconvenience.

Anyway, the club championships start soon, so it’s time for this again...

Why bother? The Ulster title next year will mean very little.

Secure our Div 1 status, then prepare for the money-making Mickey Mouse league is probably the sensible path to take.

I has been very rushed and crowded
I suppose there is an element of lets wait and see how the rest of the year pans out. It may be that attendances and interest at club level around the country will benefit. But I can't help feel the overall summer experience of enjoying build up and aftermath of big intercounty games has been reduced. A few weeks extension into August would have made a difference
