All picked from the 4 All Ireland semi finalists - so it demeans all other games and competitions - provincial, league, Tailtean Cup etc. Lazy choices - therefore there is a lot less interest in the All Stars than there used to be.
No doubt Rian deserved one for his performances throughout the year - but there you go........
I think the Tailteann has it’s own set of all stars which is a good idea.

Didn’t Clifford get one in 2020 when Cork beat Kerry in the first round? Must have gotten it off his league performances.

I’ve always said it, one memorable moment or game will get you an All star.

Sean O’Shea’s free perfect example. From what I recall, he was very quiet in both semi and final.

Rian was immense particularly against Donegal. But the big games (semis/final) seem to be the only games that matter.

Glass and Kilkenny easily for me. Paudie Clifford and Comer arguably as well.

Anyway while it’d be nice to win one an Ulster/All Ireland is the main focus.
All helped their teams to provincial titles, we forget how bad every Armagh player did the first day out against Donegal which has to be factored in.
Comer was the best player in a semi final, Glass was consistently good up to Galway, Paudie and Kilkenny two lynchpins in Kerry and Dublin attacks.
Marginal calls but you have to favour the players that got further in them situations.

Utter disgrace that Rian didn't get an all star. The system was changed years ago to include league games and he and Ethan can count themselves unlucky not to get an award.
But you know nothing should surprise us anymore.

Well, obviously that theory doesn’t apply if it’s Armagh.
It didn't help with the handbags at the end of the Galway game and the subsequent hysterics by the media and pundits alike. All stars as nice as they are for the individual undoubtedly (and any financial benefits?), don't carry the same meaning they did in years gone by as recent selections have shown, clifford after the cork defeat as mentioned and players being selected out of position to squeeze them in. Id say Rian is much more worried about Ballybay today, than missing out on this

I'd rather the players have a All Ireland Winners medal around their necks than a All Star trophy on their mantel piece in their home's

The system has changed in recent years. In reality it is more or less chosen on the All Ireland final. There's no way someone like Declan Browne or Matty Ford would win nowadays. One way to make it fairer would be limit the number, say 4, to any individual county to make sure they are shared out better.
