Junior Championship 2020

With draws all made who will emerge from the junior this year?

rd 1.
Forkhill v bye
St michaels v bye
Derrynoose v bye
O’Hanlons v cross 2nds
Corrinshego v Mullabrack
Killeavy 2nds v dorsey
Belleek v clady
Éire Óg v Lissummon

Quarter finals
St. Michaels v Corrinshego/Mullabrack
Killeavy 2nds/dorsey v belleek/clady
Derrynoose v O’Hanlons/cross 2nds
Forkhill v Éire Óg/Lissummon

some tasty games here. My game of round 1 would be belleek v clady, no love lost between these two after their league game in Granemore last year got abandoned due to a full scale brawl, be worth a watch.

The quarter finals were very favourable to the junior b league sides of 2019 in st Michael's and Mullabrack..corrinshego should have too much for them though and make it through to the semi final.

My prediction for the next quarter final pairing is dorsey v belleek, this will be a tough game for both. Dorsey have managed to reach the last 2 semi finals whereas belleek have been dumped out at the quarter final the last 2 years in a row by derrynoose so will have their sights set on a last 4 place as a minimum target this year.

things start to heat up next with two potential favourites clashing which should be derrynoose v cross 2nds. Derrynoose will be sore after beating favourites Forkhill in the semi final to lose out to underdogs collegeland in the final and cross is a strange one because you don’t know what you are going to get, there have been many rumours of different players dropping down to cross 2nds team but why didn’t they try that last year to avoid getting relegated? Regardless of that cross won’t be easy beat and the winner of this game will have a big say in the semi finals.

now for the game of the championship, Forkhill v Éire Óg potentially..Forkhill have paddy burns back this year which will make a big difference to shoring up their defence. Éire Óg haven’t been in the junior championship for a number of years so will be fancying themselves to bounce back up to intermediate.

I have been told that the semi finals are an open draw so if the winners of game 3 and 4 can avoid eachother in the semi finals we will be in for a cracker of a final.

all views are my own opinion so don’t be jumping down my throat.

I couldn’t call it for junior. Maybe derrynoose or Forkhill just from what I seen last year.

Cross will take some beating some very high profile names have dropped down to the seconds

Yeah a good few names but lots of miles on those legs. Mostly a young team so a year or 2 maybe before they push on

Who is managing cross this year? Would think they would want those boys involved

Gareth O Neill. Had heard Rico might be stepping down but wasn’t sure. Not sure on Hanratty. Sure Johnny only plays when the bumble bees are hitting the windscreen....which I suppose is now in the current season!!!

Is it right that if they played senior championship last year they can’t play Junior this year? Imagine those two in junior...

There is always this aroma around cross when they drop into junior that they will field a star studded team to blow everyone away. I was at their intermediate championship quarter final last year against Clans and they were right in it to the end..decent young team but no world beaters. They will be in contention but don’t get carried away with the rumours, do the talking on the field.

Is that not a reserve football rule?
Could be right. Just remember the rumours a few years ago that Jamie Clarke and James Morgan were going to drop down to the seconds team to win a junior and were eligible as they hadn’t played for the senior team the year before. (Obviously they were never going to do that)

Tough junior to call this year, Forkhill with 3 county men will always be in with a shout, Derrynoose and Belleek both good sides and who knows what Cross will do, never write them off anyway. Lissummon have some tidy footballers and Eire Og were in Intermediate a brave few years so bound to be strong.

They need to request to be regraded by the CCC. They aren’t going to grant a inter county footballer to play junior when they could be playing senior for the same club lol

Does anyone know when the fixtures come out? I know it's either 15/16 for the first round but no ideas for what day, time, venue we're looking at
