So Monaghan are the latest to suspended their manager...12 weeks trying to be cute and get it done before league and championship go full swing and Croke Park actually ban them. Surely Croke Park make a example of all the teams caught. Jesus we lost a home game for going on holiday
Good job our lads are not training together !!!!!!!

Was just thinking exactly the same thing a little earlier when I heard that!!

Any definite fixtures for NFL and championship yet?
I'd imagine that there'll have to be a formal draw for championship Pat, so along with leagues fixtures, it's most likely that this will be sorted in the coming days/weeks as it'll not be long coming around.

“The county's management committee have suspended McEnaney for 12 weeks with immediate effect and said they will fully cooperate and comply with any Croke Park investigation.”

I bet Banty will still be there at training on the sly... wearing a big sombrero and a fake moustache.

So the league is going ahead with that North/South crap to split teams in each division. Can someone please confirm, they intend to have relegation play offs so presumably if you get relegated you drop a division as you would do in a normal Season?

Am I the only one who thinks this is a complete & utter load of balls? We've worked hard to get back to Division 1 to play the teams in the top tier & hopefully to gain some Division 1 experience, instead we now play 3 Ulster derbies (hurrah) & could possibly end up back in Division 2 if relegated having never had the opportunity to have a real go in Division 1, how is this fair? I realise we are living in strange times at the moment but if the GAA wanted competitive matches prior to the Championship why not run this as a one off stand alone competition with it having no impact on league standings when we do eventually return to normality? We are not the only county who could lose out in this scenario, surely there are a few disgruntled county managers out there who would object & maybe even supporters?

@Ard Mhacha 13 Sure county managers are always disgruntled :D

We are in strange times, and it is unfortunate that we (and everyone) can’t play everyone else. And whoever does go down, it will be unfair on them (moreso for Div 2 teams dropping to Div 3/Tier 2 championship).

If we had no relegations, teams might not take it seriously. I don’t really know what the answer is.

However, say if Donegal/Tyrone have to play Kerry in a relegation playoff, at a neutral venue... then why couldn’t we play Kerry at a neutral venue in the league proper?

What’s the difference in Donegal/Tyrone/Kerry having to make a long journey to say, Portlaoise and us doing likewise?

I still think given the times we are living in why just not play this as a one off stand alone competition this year. Let's be honest it's not the league so why the need to play it as though it is the league? It's going to be used as preparation for the Championship, so do the right thing & let it be exactly that.

I know it's not like me  but this has really angered me  Last year when the coronavirus hit & all GAA activity was cancelled all I was concerned about as regards county football was getting the league finished as we were in a with a good chance of promotion, I couldn't have cared less if the Championship hadn't been played. Now we have this b***ardised (sorry Admin but that's the best word to describe it) version of the league, the joy of that Saturday afternoon, me jumping around my living room in my jersey when we beat Clare to gain promotion to Division 1 has been banished as ultimately we've gained nothing :( Personally I just don't think the GAA have handled this particular situation in the right way.

By the way I do love the fact you have it as Donegal/Tyrone playing Kerry in a relegation battle :D:D:D

Are you suggesting playing the 7 games, but with no promotion/relegation?

:D Yes, sounds good... but I used them as they are furthest north, and Kerry the furthest south. I understand why the division is split geographically, but if a playoff at a neutral venue like Donegal-Kerry occurred, it defeats the whole purpose of the split.

If we were to play all 7 teams, the 3 Ulster sides aren’t that far from Armagh. Nor is Roscommon. Dublin is as far as Letterkenny for us. So the only team we’d need to really face at a neutral venue to avoid a huge journey would be Kerry (and possibly Galway).

Kerry are disadvantaged geographically in Div 1, so they’d have to play maybe 4 games in the midlands (3 Ulster, Roscommon). Other than that, the geographical split makes little sense to me (for Div 1 anyway. Haven’t looked into who’s in Div 2-4).

Realistically we are looking at having to win one of 3 games here in this mini league to stay up. Everyone, rightly or wrongly will be thinking we can beat Monaghan. I will be hoping that with a new manager in Tyrone that we can catch them on the hop. Also what way does this relegation malarky work. Is it bottom team in each section play off against each other amd one team down only? If so then if we finish bottom then its likley a ome match shoot out against roscommon and we have lost the last 2 or 3 against them so we should be prepared for their style and also fitter than the last time we played them. Last years second half it showed we had a covid outbreak and were not as fit. Likely 4 games and championship. Its better than no football

No, I'm suggesting we play the made up League they have designed for this year with no promotion/relegation.

OR we could get a guy called @PatMustard to create a makey uppy league and we could guess at the results. The average of each would make up the ACTUAL results and then there'd be no socially distanced issues. We could have a vote after that on who would be relegated and then Dublin and Tyrone could play their football in division 2 next year. Do the same for the other 3 divisions and we could sort out all the promotions and relegations. Damn I'm good!

Any plan which ends with themmuns and Dublin being relegated sounds good to me.

So - are we getting Tyrone and Donegal at home, with Monaghan at a neutral venue (their punishment for being caught training)??
Could not hope for better.
