The provincials are pretty much dead so you can't really make a correlation between the two.
Derry didn't set out to lose today but they'll not lose too much sleep over this - nice rest and will be well prepped for AI series.
Ulster has become a scrap for silverware for counties that won't win...
I noticed yesterday that Turbo didn't take a free towards the end of the game and left it for Rian. This typifies the lack of confidence we can have in front goal - he should have been all over that chance and nailing it. Rian stepped up cold and missed. We seem to hit nose bleed territory...
It's raw for us supporters now, but look, when we have our best men on the pitch from the off, we know we can give the best teams a shot. We need to do things right and get ourselves to the Ulster final for another showdown with Derry.
What a test that would be and sure who knows what might...
Niall - we agree on most on here and debate is great but that was a crazy decision to make today - certainly not nonsense to challenge it! And of course it wouldn't be an issue for an experienced player - that's the point.
I'm just a little stunned after all of that. Imagine playing / training like a dog all year then watching a young lad handed a jersey for a national final in HQ (stuff of dreams) ahead of you. No disrespect to that lad who gave his all and was thrown into he fire unfairly IMO. Not the losing of...
Thanks for the advice John. Your second paragraph would suggest you have very little belief in the leagues below division 1 but that's just what I picked up from it for a bit of debate - apologies.
Having re-read your 3rd paragraph - I regret replying at all.
I disagree. The leagues are our best competitions. They need restructured in line with senior / intermediate / junior championships. Provincials to go and leave some space between leagues and championships. It should be a major achievement to win your national league and/or tiered championship...
There's no doubt that we don't ourselves any favours at times but I don't think we're any worse than any other side - that's where the unfair bias comes into play.
The TK thing was really disappointing as we were slated for that as a county which was a pitty as I thought we played really fairly...
It's interesting - we have been involved in some classics over the last few years - RTE game of the year on a couple of occasions - vs Roscommon & vs Mayo I think (when we're bate). Then there was Galway, then Derry last year and Monaghan to a lesser degree (bate again in all). We are box office...
Cork can always put out a strong team and give a great performance no matter how things are going in general. We don't have a great record against them either.
Not a defeat and unbeaten in league which is positive.
I agree to some degree but remember there is no progress here - this was a setback put right (if we think we're a top 6 team). Louth fluffed it against us, we beat a poor Meath & Fermanagh, a Kildare in disaray and a safe Cavan team happy not to be promoted. We were lucky to draw with Donegal in...
Agree with a lot Big Jim said. Gilligan is the key man this year. We have great motivators on the line and I've no doubt no stone is left unturned, but, I've always questioned our decision making (or lack of it) in the clutch moments when big games are in the melting pot - we seem to...
