400 for club games? Sure some clubs might only have a small bank to stand on or a bit of a sideline, and 400 might be a bit crowded.

Are stewards going to visit every group of 2 or more spectators and ask them if they’re from the same household?

It’s not perfect, but if people do attend, keep your distance. 2 metres is my rule... at least at that distance Mrs M can’t clobber me.
In truth rules like these are unenforceable at club level, people and clubs will mostly do there own thing. Some will use them as guidelines to different extents. Same in every aspect of life these days. Once you step outside your front door your responsible for safeguarding yourself.

I think clubs without perimeter fence and/or restricted viewing can only have 250

Yep, it seems to be 400 at bigger grounds with proper perimeter fencing and access on all 4 sides - no mention of stands though, so does that technically block the AG even if it were to be used - I know it isn't at the minute?? Lesser numbers at other games and "numbers may be restricted without perimeter fencing. These numbers include club officials, players and management etc.

As for

Clubs should just be advising patrons as they arrive and hoping for their better nature to kick in.
I seriously doubt that it should be laid at the feet of stewards. It just would not be fair. I imagine the only people able to enforce these are possibly in uniform and it would take a really brave or absolutely mental one to walk into Cross this evening, or anywhere else for that matter and "advise" folks they are not in compliance with the regs.

Anyone else picking up on the fact that the relaxation of the rules allowing attendance at games had no caveats except making sure to adhere to social distance guidance (is it 1metre or still bleedin 2 metres as there's so many conflicts and at a hospital appointment last week it was posted as 1m?), but now Ulster GAA have decided to limit numbers to 400. Based on what? DO they have different better advice? Did yer man at the head of Croke Park not say they were pushing for "at least" 500 to make things viable? Left hand doesn't have a clue that a right hand even exists and possibly just someone feeling important. By the way I'm not disagreeing with a directive, just querying the science and logic behind the decision.
No point querying any of it because nobody has a clue
Last Friday nobody this Friday 400 people what has changed since last Friday
And in 20 days everyone will have to mask up
It’s all mental

With football back, and fans mad to see a match, I think the danger was that crowds would descend on entrances, which is more worrying than allowing a couple hundred into the ground.

I’ve no problem with people attending, but they should distance sensibly. You can still discuss the match with your mate/neighbour at 2 metres.

Remember, the sooner we all do the right thing, the sooner all of us can attend matches.

What will the new restrictions mean for football now with no more than 6 people being allowed to meet outdoors?
I'd imagine exactly the same as the situation for last weekend with the Athletic grounds being within the restricted area and sports specifically mentioned as not affected. As they have said, there won't be a complete lockdown unless there's a severe emergency. Worst case it'll go behind closed doors, but personally I don't see that happening just yet. Economics just don't stack up right now. They may say public health comes first and it does, just first behind everything else!

By the way, the wording is "allowed to meet outdoors in a private garden......" and not just "outdoors" which is obviously a clever play on words.

I've actually just noticed that there may be a caveat to what I said if you look through the list.

"Anyone living in these areas is asked to avoid unnecessary travel outside the restricted areas."

Just read it, the height of stupidity.

Also hearing some members of a junior final team were in an establishment on Saturday after the game where there was a confirmed covid case, premise has since closed.

It seems to be rife in the area at the minute
