Eh? What are you on about?? Experts/Studies are funded by different bodies/individuals/governments, that's a fact. Studies are not arbitrary, they have a purpose whether that be developing a vaccine, establishing contagiousness etc, that's also a fact. Depending on the hypothesis, purpose of a study etc different and sometimes contradictory conclusions are established by rival studies, that's also a fact.
Thanks for that. I'm fairly well versed in how scientific studies are funded, executed, and reviewed. But still, thanks.

What I did say was that there are numerous experts, extremely respected and credible who challenge the govt experts.
Numerous? We'll have to disagree there. Our media have a well intentioned, but inappropriate, inclination towards offering balance when it comes to covering scientific matters. Even when the case for one side of an argument conclusively eclipses the other on every metric. When a Sikora or Heneghan or Cahill is platformed against the mainstream line, it does not mean that their ideas hold equal worth or substance. This is where unmerited balance can skew public perception.

Finally, the original point was about false positives which the govt have themselves said are happening, with one minister estimating up to 93%.

Please do point out what part of that is either conspiracy led or incorrect.
The 93% stuff is incorrect: https://bit.ly/3nhOyzs

Which brings us back to the start. Be sceptical surely, but be especially sceptical of people trying to tell you something different from what everyone else is saying.

Fair enough - I know the 93% isn't accurate, more highlighting it in regards to conflicting info from the authorities. Understand your viewpoint as well. Now we can all open a beer and reflect on a good days debating :D:D:D

So how do we see out the leagues?
With the large increase in numbers in the area I would be surprised if the league resumes any time soon if at all. I understand there is no evidence to support cases in football but I can't see the CB taking the risk, especially with a 'circuit breaker' being discussed for NI. Not sure how promotions/relegations will be handled, maybe playoffs for top and bottom two in each league before next year's league? Hard to know at this stage

I think the reality is that it is going to be hard to finish this season in the calendar year and good knows when will be completed. My guess is that we will end up with some form of restructuring. This for me maybe isn’t a bad thing...

We have learned a lot of lessons this year and the stand out for me is traditional knock out championship. We need go back to this format permanently.

My biggest complaint however is not covid related but it is total lack of opportunities for participation for lads 18 and 19. Our county board really need to get their finger out and look at ways to improve this. There are players out there in this age bracket who will walk away because they are not getting football and for me that’s not on. And when I mean football I’m not talking about some half assed competition in late Oct/Nov. At this age a lot of development can take place only if you play however and not sitting on the bench for the senior team (if they are lucky). As an association participation is essential for us!

Maybe there is opportunity with restructuring to do this. Junior B and Junior C competition could be a way to open up new opportunities for player young and old.

In realty most of our Senior B teams are good intermediate teams. Some of our Junior Clubs could be considered Junior B teams. Restructure the leagues to mirror this, home and away and straight knock out championship (we may even start to be really competitive at Ulster Club).

For the lower divisions, It could even be at 13 a side. Maybe some of the bigger clubs would start to think about entering more teams to increase participation.

The GAA’s Management Committee has today endorsed a decision to suspend all GAA Club games at all levels with immediate effect and until further notice.

The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety following a number of incidents that have been brought to our attention in recent days. In particular, post-match celebrations and a lack of social distancing at certain events have proved disappointing and problematic.

This directive applies to all ages and all grades across the island.

Club Social Centres / bars are also to close.

Training will continue to be permitted as per the guidelines outlined for the relevant levels in the Government's National Framework for Living with Covid 19 and relevant guidelines in the Six Counties.

The GAA will continue to monitor the situation in the coming days and weeks, regarding changes in government guidelines, before liaising with our units accordingly.

The Association would also like to acknowledge all of those units who have worked diligently in complying with the public health advice around the staging of our games and training sessions since activity resumed.

More than ever, we ask that you continue with this approach where training sessions for your players is continuing.

Someone put this on twitter:Forkhill GAA win a final last weekend, all players, families and friends party in pubs and houses. Result: 31 out of 33 players have positive covid results. Over 100 people in Forkhill have Covid-19. Crazy.

@ragingbull if you’re gonna tag me in something on twitter try to at least tag me on something relevant and not a random person saying numbers with no evidence. Cheers

Is there any proof other than twitter and some nameless person on the internet

I don’t know the exact figures but I do know that for instance a number of young Forkhill lads attended their school in Newry. They had the illness and over 40 lads in that school have had to leave school for testing. The numbers of those who are infected is not known but that gives a snapshot of what has been happening

Correct, Forkhill have had an awful affect on the local area and also the Gaa imo. The scenes after them winning was an absolute disgrace. Many students I now believe are self isolating and also teachers due to them being close contacts to these players. Disgrace

They are adults and presumably educated
They knew the risks like we all do.
