Advance Mark Rule

Next year they’ll have a vote on whether to include two outside posts, and to play with an oval ball.

Before you know it, we’ll all be saying things like ‘Struth’, ‘stone the crows’ and ‘ya big flaming galah!’.

I liked it last year. What has changed
the referee will award a mark when a player catches the ball cleanly on or inside a 45m line from a kick in play delivered by an attacking player on or beyond the opposition's 45m line that travels at least 20m and without it touching the ground.

The rationale behind this proposed rule change is to offer an incentive for the longer kicking of the ball into the opposition's defensive area and reward players who catch the ball cleanly under this circumstacnes with a mark.

Ask anyone to mark 20m in a diagonal line without a tape. Say they use 2 people to mark that out by telling them to move.
Not many will get it right
We can't even count the number of steps
Stop tinkering with our game
100% Joe. Perfect example is the "advance the ball for dissent" Some refs move it 5m others 25m. Jaysus this is gonna be getting confusing.

On the up side at least "TOO LONG" will now be joined with "TOO FAR". We'll soon have a chorus!
