All County Leagues

Having been to a few senior a and b games this year I have to say the standard is quite low

Looking at teams who don’t seem fit along with disappointing inter county performance from our intermediate and junior winners each year I think we should look to reorganise our leagues again. I admit they have worked well since the split to 5/6 divisions and generally very competitive.

My proposal however would be to return to 3 divisions of home or away fixtures against each club.

Senior would be most impacted, reduced to 14 teams
Intermediate then with 16
Juniors with 16 (as it currently stands with 2nds teams etc)

This would see the lowest 2 senior and intermediate teams this year drop a grade.

I had thought about reducing senior to 12.

I think with the new gaa calendar we need to rethink our club football as without a large contingent of players for much of the summer the leagues are struggling

Massive gap between the higher teams in 1a and then mid to lower teams in 1b, would see less competitive games and probably hammerings or else weaker teams setting up even more defensively to keep the scores down. I think the league structure works well.
