Can’t see Rian making all star team in forward line it’ll be Clifford Walsh then either Robert Finnerty or Damien Comer.

Finnerty didn't get a kick in either semifinal or final. Comer was poor today.

Rian 'might' squeeze in at midfield as there were few outstanding or consistent midfielders (D O'connor good today, Glass was good in earlier matches)

Ryan was the best keeper the year, don't get all this publicity/hype over rafferty doing goals for Armagh
He was very good in three matches at least I thought. Ryan was fairly solid alright, but All Star panels tend to remember big moments, so hopefully that means Ethan will get one.

Anyway, don’t you think it would be great for the lad and the Grange club if he did get an All star?

On another note...

Another trophy presentation today with joint captains. I don’t think I’ve seen as many in the one season

It certainly sticks two fingers up to that stupid rule.

Will Rafferty get chosen as goalkeeper on TSG team of the year?
And what about Rian??

I go with:

Rafferty
McCaigue
Kelly (or Rogers?)
O'Sullivan
McCarthy
Morley
White
McDaid
Fenton
P Clifford
S O'Shea
Kilkenny
Rian
D Clifford
Walsh

6 from Kerry
3 from Galway
3 from Dublin
2 from Armagh
1 from Derry

Would that representation reflect the standing of the teams at present?
11 out of 15.
I prefer my team!

I am not buying into the idea that Galway were far superior to us in the quarter final. Mc Cabes red card completely changed the game in my opinion. We had weathered their storm, we had pulled it back to a 2 point deficit and we were on top with 8 mins to 10 mins to go. No red card and I think we would have won that match in normal time. Also had Nugent not been sent off at the final whistle in normal time we would have won out in extra time. We also had a fairly scorable chance to win with the last kick of extra time. Not much between the two sides.

I felt Galway were done over with a fairly poor free to put Kerry 17 points to 16 points ahead with time running out yesterday. Galway should have had a free out in the immediate play about 3 or 4 seconds before. They get that free out they are building towards a chance to go ahead themselves and then Kerry have real questions to answer. Not a lot between the two teams yesterday and I felt the ref who had a good game, made a shockingly poor call that changed injury time completely.

There's 5 or 6 teams now next year will fancy a real lash at it next year. Kerry, Dublin, Galway, Tyrone will be back, Donegal will fancy themselves under a new manager and potentially Armagh have one last kick of the dice now with a team that has been fully built.

Our age profile suggests one huge push in us. It will come down to the overall draw we get and what bench options we can develop. J Kierans has all the potential to make an impact. I though the lad Woods done well enough when thrown on in the quarter final. Maybe we get a fully fit O o Neill next season.

Next season is groups of 4 in round robins. It will allow teams to gain momentum. That potentially suits us.

Having said I would see how the season played out to the final before judging our progress. I think it's been a 6/10 season. We had the beating of that Galway team. We had a poor day in Ballybofey that can't be brushed under the carpet but we rectified it in the qualifiers. We stayed in Division 1 which will be another great test next season. Decent season but not one of us will say there isn't a lingering feeling of we left a semi final or final behind us.

It’s rare enough for All-stars to come from outside the last 4 teams particularly when they didn’t win their province. I’ve a feeling Moran might get the nod over him, but he’s in with a chance. Ryan won an AI and conceded one goal all year so can’t see Rafferty having a chance.

I'm not sold on either of those points.

We were 2 points down with 62 mins on the clock when we had a man dismissed, which subsequently allowed Galway to open a bit of daylight in that game. All the stats on that game were pretty level - possessions, attacks, shots. Galway had marginally better shooting efficiency. But in no world were they 'streets' ahead of Armagh that day.

Kerry were better than Galway today, but not by much. Four points was a fair reflection. Were Galway to develop a couple of bench options in the next 12 months then that gap will close. I don't really buy this line that Kerry have been far superior to everyone else in recent years, but have failed due to miscellaneous mental issues. It's true that they have some unbelievable forwards, but for me they are very ordinary in some other key areas, which drags the unit back toward the pack.

I feel we'll be competitive with anyone next year - including Kerry.
Agree with that.
And I also dont't buy into the idea Galway were streets ahead of us.
Galway defence couldn't deal with the high ball we launched at them. That was a weakness we uncovered in their defence, and possibly one we could have exploited earlier in that game. As it was, we got three goals out of making hay from their inability to cope with that type of bombardment. Speaking to Galway lads behind me after the game, they were worried that we had exposed a major flaw in their set up.
Kerry obivously took all that on board and tried to exploit that in the early stages of yesterday. But didn't have same joy

They didn’t, but as we seen again yesterday, that kamikaze goalkeeper is Galway’s weak link. How he kept a clean sheet, I’ll never know.

It was moreso pure luck on our part than any plan we had to launch long ball in. The 1st and 3rd goals were the result of shots for points dropping short. The keeper should of caught or punched the 1st but for some reason chose not to, the second the keeper had pocession of the ball and passed it straight to turbo and the 3rd the keeper again should of been favourite to win the ball but failed to come off his line. Very lucky in all 3 cases, most days that’s 9 points you wouldn’t get. I’d view it as us being 9 points worse off when comparing outfield players.

I think we are in fairly good shape. We have Oisin O'Neil (hopefully), Grimley, and McQuillan to come back into the squad, healthy and fit for next year. Tiernan Kelly also. Turibtt settling in well and will improve more and more. Conor O'Neill has done well and the overall age balance looks fair enough. The 'elder statesmen' would minaly be Forker, Grugan and Campbell who would in theory have another few good seasons in them. I would say again that after watching that Galway game, Soupy put in some shift. Its all been a bit overshadowed by the penalty miss unfortunately, but he made a fantastic effort througout that game and my only concern would be ability to lift himself again for another go at it

Disagree. If the discussion is about Galway being streets ahead of us, then they should have been able to deal with those long/high balls. But they didn't. They made a hash of it-not any thing to do with luck, but simply come down to their inability to have dealt with it. As I say, if situation reversed, that aspect of our defence would have been discussed over pages and pages on this forum.
Bit in bold. Seriously?
