If Jimmy or Harte was in charge off us. We would have won the game yesterday. Time and time again this management has let us down when the big games come around. Our best midfielder sits on the bench every single game. Only gets a few mins towards the end off the game. How Nugent doesn't start for this side is beyond me. Until we get rid off the management failure is going to continue.
Harte in charge of Derry and Donegal tanked them

"If Jimmy or Harte was in charge off us. We would have won the game yesterday" this is merely speculation and an easy comment to make as it can never be proved.
Jimmy was in charge of Donegal yesterday and couldn't win the game without penalties, and Mickey Harte lost comfortably in the Ulster opener, with bad tactics no less, with one of the supposed best teams in the country.

Add Roscommon to that….
I would be confident enough of beating Roscommon and Monaghan. Accept they both beat us last year but still think we are more than capable of beating them.

Mayo and Tyrone would be tougher but we would still be capable of beating them both.

Important to get off to good start against Westmeath. Like some have said that should guarantee us at least third and into the preliminary quarter finals.

Something in the back of my head is also telling me we will go to Celtic Park and beat Derry. Donegal exposed a few flaws with them and we can do the same. Don't feel they have progressed from last year.

And we have proven we can match Galway on our day. But think Galway are a different team this year if they are able to keep players fit and available.

Wouldn’t be confident of us beating anyone- thats not being negative but it’s just given our record against strong teams, so close but no joy multiple times now. Well within our ability to beat any of those teams named though, think if we brought yesterdays performance we probably would if we tidied up the shooting and made better choices at key times.

And agree with above, we should be aiming at winning the group but if we were to to finish 2nd or 3rd, the 2/3 in the other groups will probably be:
Mayo
Roscommon
Tyrone
Cork
Louth
Monaghan

I would give us a decent chance against any of those
The consecutive weeks adds a toughness to the schedule if you don't top the group.

Derry will blitz Galway with far more energy in their game this weekend, Galway have a lot of players only back from injury while Derry are chomping at the bit. There's shades of Mayo last year about their season so far, that could continue if they thump Galway and be scuppered for the top spot by losing to us. They get a week off before facing us while we've only a week turnaround after Westmeath which isn't easy. Tyrone could nip Donegal in their first game.

Hopefully we use the squad in the Westmeath game to give most of the lads who started Sunday a break and get them focused on Derry. There's enough quality and energy there to handle Westmeath with a well rotated team.

I would go the opposite - put the strongest possible team out against Westmeath - we CANNOT afford to lose that one. After that the pressure comes off slightly

Living in Divingmidget Land, for what seems like forever and spending a lot of time in Donkeygal I suppose keeps me out of the mayhem at home. However it does let me hear what the “outsiders” think of us. Donegal certainly don’t want to see us again and I don’t think anyone in Tyrone wants to draw Armagh. We are so sore on ourselves and does anyone really think that Mayo or Monaghan management would want to draw Armagh? We’re up there with the hitters, we just need to hit a few home runs.

This team already has to bare a number of regrets over the past 24 months alone, probably more than any other team. They have to live with it, we will only remember it. It is imperative the team do now wallow in the negativity of losing, it was shit but that is sport and now it is history, cannot do anything about that. The next game there has to be a marked improvement in the teams ability to play for 70 minutes, then from there improve on that. A lot has gone into the training from the players and the management over the last 10 years for it to come to a standstill, they need to get get to that next level of beating teams and have some belief.

All not rosey in the Derry camp. Defections, mayhem in Portugal, in-fighting and some injuries thrown in.

Apparently Conor O’Neill is out for the season.
