I know I come from a club that doesn't facilitate hurling but it does't stop me being interested in it within the county or further afield.

I have seen most clubs play this year in Armagh.

Who do you think will win the Senior and Junior championships this year?

Same old Keady/Middletown for senior and Sean Treacys who refuse to move up to senior winning the junior again? or will Derrynoose break through? Cuchulians going well in the Antrim division 3 this year, they are also surely plotting the demise of the big 2?

IMO the junior isn't competitive at all anymore, Killeavy and Craobh Rua have gone backwards, Middletown seconds should give Sean Treacys their toughest game.

Keady probably favourites after winning last year with a young team, and Sean Treacys expected to win the junior.

Can understand Sean Treacys reluctant to move up to senior to train all year for more than likely one championship game, they would much rather win the junior and have a push at Ulster Junior.

It would be interesting to hear the thoughts on a round robin set up for the senior hurling championship, top 5 (Keady, Middletown, Cuchulianns, Derrynoose and Sean Treacys) all play each other once and top 2 play off in a final.

More games would surely leave it more appealing for teams like sean treacys to move up and close the gap. Can't see it happening though, county board wouldn't be keen on the headache it would cause to fixtures, just a thought.

In the ideal world a round robin championship would bring on armagh hurling but the county board are football driven and set aside small time periods for the hurling championship.

Sean Treaceys shouldn't be given an option of staying in junior it is unfair to the rest of the junior teams that could have a chance to develop their club. Derrynoose should have stayed in junior after winning it in 2017 if that was the case but they played keady in a highly entertaining semi final last year. Middletown's training session of a semi final against Cuchullians last year raised many eyebrows of the Armagh city clubs senior credentials and I think Keady will brush them aside.

Do you think there will be any shocks in the championship @John Hogg ?

The championships were changed a few years ago by a vote on a motion put forward by Tir na nOg.
Perhaps if the huge chip on the shoulder that hurlers seem to have is removed and they get the proverbial finger out they may well make their own proposal(s).

Small periods of time for championship: how many teams are in it?
Until then perhaps keep your opinions quiet until you check all the facts

It seems the semi finals went as expected. Should shape up to be an interesting final. Any thoughts?

There needs to be a restructure in the championship for next year, Cuchullians have been beat out the gate 2 years in a row and are still regarded as the 3rd best team in Armagh. Before someone jumps down my throat I know a proposal must be made by a club to enforce any change. A round robin championship would be ideal. only play one half of the league and have it over by the time championship starts We are going nowhere as a county with the same 2 clubs dominating.

Sounds sensible, ensures each team is placed in the championship that they are able for in that year. I can see the problem of a traditionally strong club not being happy with possible placement in junior, likewise some junior clubs may have aspirations of a junior championship and possibly pushing on for an ulster junior but have a realistic chance of being placed in senior. Round robin is the most sensible way to move forward though imo

Middletown and Sean Treacey's. I would put the house on Middletown.

Regardless if Sean Treacey's win or lose they will play Ulster anyway as seconds teams can't progress into Ulster competitions and that is all they wan't. They are a club in constant limbo and will never improve playing junior. Middletown brushed them aside in the league the other night in what was like a training game.

there definitely has to be a change, Yes we took a tough defeat but we have been there before and come back and won the c'ship. I dont feel dropping down to junior in the current format just to chase a possible Ulster and AI would be beneficial to the club, especially as our juniors have gotten to this years final. A Division of 7 teams each playing each other once with the 2nd and 3rd play off to play 1st in the final. the junior c'ship would then be semis of 4th v 7th and 5th v 6th or alternatively (although i think its a stretch) 4th and 5th play the intermediate final 6th and 7th the junior c'ship.

It was my understanding that a 2nd's team cannot progress to provincial if their 1st's win the higher division championship. Maybe that's wrong

playing a hurling club final at the same time as the Dublin vs Mayo is ridiculous & games on Sunday anyone who follows them teams can't go to the Tyrone vs Kerry game with them games being earlier or after

its c'ship season, are we gonna move club finals to mid-week just so we can watch the county games. the semi-finals were on when the AI hurling semis were on and that was more disappointing

Does this leave Keady and Derrynoose having to play off for an Ulster Intermediate spot? And if so when would that be?

When has this ever happened before? And would it not be Cuchulianns v Derrynoose in a play off semi final then the winner plays keady in the play off final?
