Armagh County Convention 2019 took place last night (Thursday 12 December 2019) in Silverbridge.

Proceedings got underway with Chairman Michael Savage, he welcomed all club representatives to the convention and gave an overview of the year thanking all those who work tirelessly for the greater

he thanked Silverbridge for hosting this year’s county convention, for their hospitality and the kind gift presented to all club members and he wished Jarlath Burns every success in his bid for Uachrarán.

Congratulations to all officers elected for 2020 and thanks to all outgoing officers for the work they have carried out for Armagh over the past number of years.

The full election of officers for 2020 as follows:

Motion passed at Armagh County Convention:

Motion 4
That underage board regulation No 7 be amended to: To be eligible for the Grades listed hereunder, a player shall meet the respective stated age criteria:
• Under-17: Be Under 17 years and Over 13 years
• Under-15: Be Under 15 years and Over 11 years
• Under-13: Be Under 13 years and Over 10 years
• Under-11.5: Be Under 11.5 years and Over 9 years
• Under-9.5: Be Under 9.5 years and Over 7 years
• Under 7.5: Be Under 7.5 years and Over 5 years

To be “Under” an age shall mean that the player shall celebrate the Upper Limit birthday (e.g. 17th for Under-17 Grade) on the 1st January of the previous year or on a later date.
However, for U11.5, U9.5, and U7.5 it shall be 1st July of the previous year.
To be “Over” an age shall mean that the player shall have celebrated the Lower Limit birthday (e.g. 13 to participate in Under-17 Grade) prior to the 1st January of the year. Girls may participate up to and including the Under-11 Grade.
Óg Sport: Be Under 15 years and Over 11 years.
Féile: Be Under 14 years and Over 10 years.
The age categories for Óg Sport and Feíle will be determined by national and provincial fixtures committees as appropriate. Penalties: to remain as currently detailed in Regulation 7.

Motion 5
To add a Regulation No. 7a to Football and League Regulations.
We have a League and Championship at U19/20 to be determined at First County Committee Meeting of each year.
Under 19; Be Under 19 years and Over 15 years or
Under 20; Be Under 20 years and Be Over 16 years

To be “Under” an age shall mean that the player shall celebrate the Upper Limit birthday (e.g. 19th for Under-19 Grade) on the 1st January of the Competition Year or on a later date.

To be “Over” an age shall mean that the player shall have celebrated the Lower Limit birthday (e.g. 15th to participate in Under-19 Grade) prior to the 1st January of the Championship Year.

Motion 9
Amendment to County Bye Law – Football & League Regulations – 7. Hosting Club
Club hosting Armagh Championship shall receive 30% of gate receipts with a minimum payment of £200. (Currently 15% and £50 minimum payment)

Motion 11
That the Armagh Football and League Regulation 4 be replaced with the following:

4. The Armagh All-County Football Leagues will be based on five Divisions. The higher four of which shall consist of 8 teams in each, with all remaining teams in Junior Football League.
These Divisions shall be known as:
• Senior A Football League;
• Senior B Football League;
• Intermediate A Football League;
• Intermediate B Football League;
• Junior Football League.

The Senior and Intermediate League Fixtures to be on a ‘Home & Away’ basis. All Junior League teams play each other in one round of round-robin fixtures. Promotion and Relegation shall be as follows:

Senior A Football League (8 teams)
Winner is the team that finishes top of the league. Bottom two teams shall be relegated to Senior B Football League.

Senior B Football League (8 teams)
Winner is the team that finishes top of the league shall be promoted to Senior A Football League. Second placed team shall be promoted to Senior A Football League. Bottom two teams shall be relegated to Intermediate A Football League. (If Senior Football Championship winners finish in either of the bottom two places they shall not be relegated. In this instance the team finishing third from bottom shall be relegated).

Intermediate A Football League (8 teams)
Winner is the team that finishes top shall be promoted to Senior B Football League.
Intermediate Championship winners shall also be promoted to Senior B Football League (If Intermediate Football Championship winners finish in top position then second placed team shall also be promoted to Senior B Football League). Bottom two teams shall be relegated to Intermediate B Football League.

Intermediate B Football League (8 teams)
Winner is the team that finishes top shall be promoted to Intermediate A Football League. Second placed team shall also be promoted to Intermediate A Football League, except where Intermediate Football Championship winners come from this league then second placed team shall not be promoted – in the event of the winners of the Intermediate Football Championship finishing top of this league then the second placed team shall be promoted. Bottom two teams shall be relegated to the Junior Football League (If Intermediate Football Championship winners finish in either of the bottom two places they shall not be relegated. In this instance the team finishing third from bottom shall be relegated).

Junior Football League (Remaining teams)
Winner is team that finishes top shall be promoted to Intermediate B Football League. Junior Football Championship winners shall also be promoted to Intermediate B Football League (If Junior Football Championship winners finish in top position then second placed team shall also be promoted to Intermediate B Football League)

Trophies & Medals: The winners of each league shall receive a Cup plus 24 medals.
