Armagh moments of the year

All of the goals vs Galway.

Grugan goal against Donegal.

Ethans points.

Rians goal vs Dublin in the league and the point when he cut in from the left and curled a beauty over.

The 4 Tyrone huers getting red cards in the league. (How’d you miss that one! ;) )

Seriously though I thought that was a big moment, it killed off any hope of a Tyrone comeback that day and was great to get one over on them- was also great to back up the great performance against the Dubs with a win against the (boke) All Ireland champions.

Another great moment against themmun’s was the applause for Michaela McAreavey after the events of the previous week- genuinely gave me goosebumps and was a lovely touch showing that the GAA is genuinely one big family. Of course knocking them out that day was superb as well.

I enjoyed the overall team response and performance to the early Tyrone goal during the qualifier at the AG. After beating them in the McKenna Cup and League, I anticipated Tyrone would come to the AG with an axe to grind and wanting to 'put us in your place'. I've no doubt that was thier intention. After the Ballybofey dissapointment, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect from Armagh. The early Tyrone goal didn't bode well-but how we then proceeded to take that game by the scruff of the neck was impressive. It was a 6 point hammering. Moment I remember best was a long, restart kick from Rian, collected high by Campbell who turned and stuck it over the bar. Class.

Obviously the O'Neil free stands out from this year. But for some reason the thing that stuck with me the most was Donaghy celebrations on the sideline once it went over.

The win over Dublin, 2 wins over Tyrone and the qualifier win against Donegal also stand out as good moments.

Like with any team there are few lows. The ulster defeat to Donegal was extremely disappointing. As I felt going into it we were going to give ulster a good rattle.

Extra time against Galway obviously a low. We were in the position twice in extra time to win that match. Certainly something we left behind as I feel we would have been in an all Ireland final if we managed to get over the line.

Also the Tiarnan Kelly incident I also found disappointing. The brawl is one thing and they happen regularly. But the gouge went way beyond that. Also the reaction of some armagh fans to somehow justify the action was the lowest point of the year for me

This was he first year I was ever going to be able to say I was at every League and Championship match. Alas, I was sat in Aldergrove, awaiting a flight, during the Galway game and I literally had to switch off the phone for a four hour flight as Rian nailed that free.

For me, the opening match of the League in Croke Park has many fond memories - great day in Dublin, a few lovely pints and of course the performance. The atmosphere between Croker and Connolly Station and on the train north, was very special indeed.
