Well said but I wouldn’t expect anything other from geezer! A dictator!! Roll on McEntee taking over!!

So you know for definite that he'd be willing to take it?!?!!!

Jeez we won a match against Down on Sunday, our old adversaries whom we hadn't beaten in The Marshes in Championship football in 63 or 64 years (depending on what paper you read) & we are now in an Ulster semi final yet people are still banging on about Geezer!!!! "Get Geezer out", "he should never have had the job in the 1st place", "dictator", "no tactical awareness", "his fault certain players haven't committed to the county" & on & on & on it goes. Any chance of just letting it go until we are actually out of the Championship? All the haters may well have their prayers answered at the end of this Season & he may go anyway. Admittedly there are more reasoned posts about this topic but some of the stuff written is OTT.

This having a go at geezer for ‘dropping’ mcquillan is complete and utter bullshit and a complete witch hunt.

As everyone is aware he has the chance to play professional football. So what happens if he’s playing County senior, county u20, club senior (and presumably club u20) and he gets an injury which ruins his chance??? To me it looks like management is protecting the lad and letting him give this Aussie rules a proper go of it instead of shackling him to the county team. Yes he’s a talented footballer but this is a once in a lifetime chance for the young lad.

Now, can we stop with this f****** bullshit about geezer and start supporting the players and the team. He’s not on the pitch. The man has given his life to this county, without him there’s no Sam in 2002 FACT. And I’m sure the supporters that give him abuse no matter what have left a sour taste in his mouth towards the job and county he loves.

If the players were unhappy with him he’d be gone a long time ago. (For example McCrory in down, mcstay in Roscommon). If they support him I support him. Cut it out until the end of the season then feel free to take your pitchfork and torches down to the county board office.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion and this sort of BS attitude is why the county has drifted year on year for the last 10-12 years....don't question anything, armagh to the core, sure he was there in 2002 so he must be something special. I want to repeat I don't know what the position is about why Ross isn't playing but I know him to be very committed in everything he has done. If the management are holding him back to protect him as he has the chance to go to Australia then that's fine. If though he is not being played because of other reasons why should that not be challenged?

As for McGeeney giving his life to Armagh....give me a break....he was out of Mullaghbawn as soon as possible and left a very sour taste behind him, he went to Kildare and gave his life to them for 6 years before coming to Armagh. Yes he was a key player in 2002 but to be honest I would have Marsden, McGrane and Oisin on a higher level of importance and we definitely wouldn't have won Sam without them...

Calm down.
A poster asked for clarification about the story with Ross is. In this same post he questioned Ross's commitment. The fact that Ross is not playing for Armagh is not down to a lack of commitment on his behalf. End of. If it's not down to his lack of commitment you do the maths. Protecting the player? Give me a break.

Has O’Hanlon left the panel? Ryan Kearney from the Og’s was named at 16 then dropped for Oisin O’Neill so not actually sure who our sub keeper is at the minute. I wouldn’t be dropping Blaine anyways.
Didn’t he get injured as allowed to being dropped

Marsden. Armagh's greatest in my time watching them.

Anyway...

Geezer has been a great servant to Armagh no doubt. Everyone has their opinion on his managerial success to date. The pros and cons but I'd like to think that we are all fully behind him rather than questioning him on a public forum. When Armagh exit the AI series reflect back on his year (or his 5 years) then and whether or not he should continue. Until then - come on Armagh and come on Geezer.

Bring on Cavan.

I saw him in the stand with other players on Sunday. Heard Kearney showed up injured on Sunday and wasn’t able to warm up so Oisin was filling in as it was too late to pull Sean in

You asked for someone to put the record straight and then made quite a few assumptions of your own and went off on one! Ross has been going to Aussie Rules trials in Ireland over the winter and did very well. Throughout this process he continued to train with Armagh. He did that well during his trials he was invited to Australia in April for 12 days to train with academy players out there (call it a final trial if you like). AFAIK he is waiting on word on whether he will be offered a contract with an Aussie Rules club. When he came back from Australia he went straight back to Armagh training and has remained committed to the setup.
Nobody's asking for a red carpet to be rolled out. I can assure you that's it's not just a matter of "rocking up" without training and getting game time in Cullyhanna (as would be the case in most clubs). I'm sure Ross is fully aware of the commitment needed for inter county football as he has been doing it throughout his playing career.
He has been treated disgracefully by the management. It's very small minded to drop him because he has gone to trials for Aussie rules. If the opportunity arose for Geezer during his playing days I'd say he (along with everyone else) would have jumped at it. If Ross isn't in the top 15 players in Armagh (let alone the 26 named for the Down match) I'd eat the shoes I'm wearing today.

Mackers I agree completely on his ability and he does appear to have a great attitude. The problem I can see is that the county manager has other players who have been there all season and he has to weigh up how they would feel if a player got what they might see as preferential treatment because of who he is.

County football managers have to be a hard bunch by the look if it. Lee Brennan is a top club player but walked away from Tyrone because of lack of game time. I expect though if Ross is still about next year he will be a starter. He may even get a chance this year.

That doesn’t make sense. He has accommodated Jamie Clarke and his travels through his tenure. He hasn’t been too concerned about his other players when dealing with that situation.
You do appreciate that Ross has been there all year bar twelve days?

Maybe McGeeney doesn’t think he is ready and that is why he has been plying with the U20s. Could be nothing at all to do with the Aussie rules stuff

When I posted I was going to mention Clarke. Don't know the answer there :)

I hope we see McQuillan and Duffy in the team before long.
