All about opinions BC. I think you're right that the players you've listed were essential to winning Sam and you could include others like Stevie and Ronan Clarke, but in my opinion Geezer was head, shoulders and torso above any single player when it comes to level of importance in the 2002 triumph, not just for his football but for his leadership qualities both on and off the pitch, which were central to the unprecedented levels of commitment required and given by the collective.
And who happened to have the ball when it was blew up??????? That tells it all. Was meant to be and he was meant to be the man leading the charge. It's a tough pill to swallow for a Cross man to admit that there are better players in the county outside their own club mind you.

I did not - i said "IF". Everything I wrote had the prefix of "IF". I have literally no idea about him - hence, the IF. So, wind your neck in.

Now answer the U20 post! I'll be waiting i assume..........................................

You said that IF he did go to trials (which he did) then he made himself unavailable for the county which is incorrect. No need to wind my neck in. Just because he went to trials for Aussie Rules (which were on a Saturday) did not mean he did not train with the county all week. HE DID BOTH.
No need to wait on an answer for the u20s situation (very condescending!!). Ross trained with the seniors all winter/spring with a view to playing senior football with Armagh. He's playing with the u20s as it very clear where he lies in the scheme of things in training. Geezer runs three teams within the senior training setup and Ross has been left in the "C" team for some time now.

Why would the u20 management not want to use his talents when the senior management clearly don't want to?

Obviously you know a lot more than me him being a club mate of yours but how is he with the ‘C’ team. If I remember rightly he came in against Clare last year. What happened to cause him to be demoted?

Yeah...fate....you do know that of the 3 players I named who I felt were most important to the team only 1 was from Cross? Geezer was a key key player and was a strong driving force but honestly he was not the main footballer on the team. He was a very good leader but the 3 I mentioned were more important in terms of the way we actually played. McGrane set the platform, Marsden was the grease of the team who made the whole thing tick and Oisin was the man to finish it all off.

You need to take off the glasses and look at this objectively. It was stated that he went to Trials and was away from the squad for 12 days - now is this right or wrong. That in my book is not doing both is it?. That was his priority at that time and good luck to him - hope he makes it i really do. But, the manager during that time has to plan without this lad - correct?

Now he's back in the fold (no-one could answer for months what his status was). All of a sudden now we know everything.

The U20s issue you won't answer directly because you have been proven wrong. His father (i believe) is connected with the U20s yea?? Maybe he asked Geezer to leave him be at U20s until that was over. Honestly, for proper development of our players i do believe the right decisions is to let him finish his age group first - the U20s will be delighted to have him in the squad until they are put out - and then he can join the senior squad proper. Correct me if i am wrong, but is that not what exactly happened last year?

Look, I've probably said too much already. My impression is that Geezer holds it against the lad for going to the trials when not one of us would not have done the same thing. As a club we would obviously rather he stayed and played for Cullyhanna and Armagh for years to come but it's small minded to deny the lad the opportunity to give it a go.

I suppose Big Joe's decision was right to take McGeeney off in 2005 against Tyrone then!

I don't need glasses thanks very much. I've said my piece. I'm not going to go forward and back with you ad nausem on this. Do you think it takes Geezer the 12 days that Ross was in Australia to plan a season?? If that's why Ross is being left out we're in real trouble!

I'm glad your whole analysis of the situation is "an impression" and not "facts" - at least we cleared that one up. Care to analyse the "facts" around the U20's situation where if he played for the seniors he could not play for the U20's as a plausible reason why he isn't playing for the senior team?

love geezer or loathe him, he has put together an extremely talented squad this year, who have improved year on year since 2017, when we made the quarter finals. (First division 3 team ever so clearly he did soemthing right)

Think of the teams we have challenged this year, Tyrone, Kildare, Meath, Donegal and should have beat all of them, that’s a big improvement from division 3 football level teams.

Let’s cut the geezer chat out for the rest of the year, roll in behind the team and be positive and be SUPPORTERS of this team whether you’re from cross, lurgan or cullyhanna because even if we get beat against Cavan this team is capable of a long summer, but not with this negative attitude going around.

I've given my opinion. You can take it as fact or fiction......I don't really care. Looks like you're not going to take it on board anyway.

It looks to me that you have no answer to it - which is exactly what i expected. Case Closed. Keep the Geezer-Out banners hidden until we at least lose!

Should have said Craigavon instead of Lurgan so you could keep all the C's :D - I'm just trying to lighten things a bit

To me Oisin McConville is the best player ever to put on a Armagh shirt
