For a club that hadn’t won a title in a lifetime, that was a very civilised celebration and presentation from that bunch of players. Of course, those Lurgan folk are a very civilised people, although that might change once the Bucky starts flowing :D

They seem like a good bunch of lads. Best of luck in the Ulster series. They should fear no one.

Thought CE deserved it, the lucky goal didn't even win it as Cross came back from that. They dug deep as they have done in all of their games and were able to get over the line and finish strong. Some great honest performances, Motm for me was young Heffron, honest player and was able to snuff out every target man Cross deployed. CE forced young Mc Conville back into his own half to secure ball which nullified one of their major scoring threats. Fair play to them they Dug deep and showed the determination to win it.

Didn't see the match - was only following it on Twitter and only got to see the important moments on the TV.

It appeared to me that central to the victory was the never say die attitude and self belief of the Clann Eireann side who refused to give up when things looked down. That meant pulling in a six point deficit in the second half and keeping plugging away when all seemed lost. Even when Rangers recovered from the shock of the second goal to draw level, Clann Eireann still rallied to clinch victory.

That ability to stay in the match meant that if a break went their way, they were well placed to take advantage and of course that break happened in the shape of the second goal. It was bad - and costly - misjudgement, but as someone who has been there before, I have nothing but sympathy.

Again, this is only an impression, so shoot me down if I'm wrong, but I get a sense that Rangers are now very reliant on the O'Neills and of course such reliance creates a vulnerability. Furthermore, Rangers remain strong within our own County, but their air of invincibility is now gone and there appears to be a levelling off in terms of the standard at Senior level. It will be interesting to see how Rangers come back.

I'd have to say that although Rangers won't feel so, this win should be a real boost for football generally in the County and can hopefully inspire young players and teams everywhere, which in turn should benefit the County team.

Congrats to all the Clann Eireann lads here.

Well done Clann Eireann. Great for a club that have put so much into underage development to have that come to fruition. A good model for other clubs to follow.

We now have had four different senior champions in five years. That's an indication that our club scene continues to grow more competitive and healthy. After the stagnation of the last two or three decades, this growth is something everyone in the county should celebrate.

I suppose we have to give credit to Cross during the last 2-3 decades too. They were head and shoulders above all teams, not only in Armagh, but in all of Ireland.

But it is good for football in the county that we are seeing different winners. Other clubs will look at the likes of recent winners CE and Maghery, and believe they too can win championships.

Fantastic achievement for CE and a great win. They made a commitment to youth about a decade ago and their foresight has rewarded them with a SFC. Some say it's great for the county. While I can't argue that it gives many teams encouragement for the year ahead, does it show that the standard in club football in Armagh has dropped quite significantly? I can't really see clanns making an impact in ulster. Essentially a division 2 team has won the championship. However, what I would now see as a perceived weakness within the club scene, I don't think that transmits to the county team as I think we have a very good side capable of breaking into the top tier. So I'm asking myself, how important is the county club scene to county success??

I wouldn’t totally agree with that. Crossmaglen over the last 2 or more decades were a different animal. They were as good as many county team and miles ahead of the rest in the county. They were blessed with fantastic talent and were ahead of the curve with the youth structures. Other teams in the county got their underage structures in place to be the next crossmaglen and that is what we are starting to see now, and it is great to see. I wouldn’t rule CE out of going on a run in ulster. Was very impressed with them throughout the championship. Cross aren’t going anywhere either, they will be back with a point to prove again next year.

Congratulations to Clan Eireann they kept their cool at a vital time near the end of the game, Cross gave it everthing scoreing 16 points is no mean feat they will be at the business end of the championship in the coming years. Both teams deserve great credit for giving us a really good game, I thought the referee had a very good game, he let the game flow and used a lot of common sense.

Can't argue with anything u have said above and this is my predicament now. Have teams now found out cross by putting emphasis on the youth and matched them that way? Was cross' team simply a generational team that will never be matched? Has the overall standard dropped, or is it just that we are unlikely to see a generational team that cross produced and now it has petered off like a county championship should? Looking at the greatest club teams recently; cross, st galls, corofin (ironically beat 2day) none of them have reflected in a county dominance all ireland wise. So a good thing now for the county that our championship is no longer a "cross" cship?

Congrats to CE. As someone else pointed out here, nobody can point to the fortunate second goal because Cross, as they always do, came back from it. Great character shown by both sides, a great game but the Cross overreliance on the O'Neills and McConville came back to bite them.

Some questions to be asked of the Cross back line now. The sloppy goals in the final last year could be put down to the keeper being injured or bad luck, but two years in a row is more than just bad luck.

Great day for CE and football in armagh in general, gives hope to the rest of us. Hopefully we see more of Turbitt, Kelly and maybe even heffron in another orange jersey next year.

Final word to @bcb1, who is no doubt in poor form today. Hard luck and it's difficult to see yous not being back at the business end next year

A lot of nonsense is talked about clubs and youth structures. Of course a good system helps to get the best out of young players but without the raw talent coming through you can not really achieve success at the top level. Cross have the breeding and the tradition to go with it. Therefore they will always be there or there abouts.
