Any thoughts on the way things are panning out so far this year as we return to normal league campaigns since the pre pandemic?
My own thoughts, Clann Éireann have found form this season in 1A whereas Nab and Mullaghbawn who both came up from 1B can't buy a win. Granemore v Mullaghbawn this week is a huge game for all 3 of them aforementioned clubs. 1B seems quite open as teams are all at a close enough level. Anyone can win that and anyone can get the trapped door too. Small margins.

2A is probably the most intriguing league so far with the addition of two of the bigger clubs in armagh dropping into intermediate this season Pearse Óg and Cullyhanna. Cullyhanna have started well 3/3 whereas Ógs find themselves on a slippery slope if they cannot turn it around. my choice for Intermediate glory this year would be Culloville who look like a club building towards senior from the ground up. 2B is again like 1B and a mixed bag with any team capable of picking up a result in this division.

3A has been disappointing to be honest, none of the chasing pack look to be anywhere close to Collegeland or Clonmore who will both safely return to intermediate next year and either will win the junior championship. Newtown and Eire Óg who both showed some promise over the past few years have regressed and Lissummon having lost their captain this year to travel will find it hard to back up their championship run from last year. It is great to see Clann Éireann enter a seconds team into 3B who could push on and make the junior championship interesting over the next few seasons and see where it takes them.

Overall I think the leagues are all very competitive and every club is playing at the level they deserve to be at right now.

Peter’s had a slow start with injuries and would’ve hoped to got the first two wins but narrow losses. Still missing 4/5 regular starters, the younger lads have stepped up as it showed against Sarsfields Friday.

1b is a minefield teams dont seem to be travelling well, and agree CE are motoring rightly in 1a and think st pauls can make another attempt at the intermediate crown

A number of surprises for me: firstly how poor Nab and Mullaghbawn have been. Especially the Nab.. Really thought they’d have enough about them to make an impact in 1A. Unless they both start making inroads this weekend you’d fancy them to come right back down again.

Second surprise is 1B and how open it is. Silverbridge look like they might just run away with it however still a lot of football to go. Apart from that everyone is beating everyone.

2A looks like Cullyhannas to lose, they’ll be eyeing up a league/championship double no doubt. Really suprised at how badly Pearse Óg have went to shite, remember being told at the start of last year they’d be relegated from 2A and so far that prediction looks accurate.

Clann Éireann IIs seem to have left their mark at Junior level, not easy to sustain a second senior team so fair play to them, numbers must be strong to keep it going.

1A Clann Eireann and Killeavy off to good starts by the look of things, CE be closest team to Cross you’d imagine when they get the county men back for the championship football. Mullaghbawn and the nab off to bad starts, Nab never seemed to have many notable underage teams and maybe that’s catching up on them now. If Mullaghbawn were going to do anything in that league they’d have needed a good start especially since they have no county men so presume they’ll struggle more when the other teams get lads back.

Can see the 1B table finishing similarly to how it is at the minute, Maghery similar to the Nab maybe just too many older heads and not enougj coming through, expect the Bridge to head back up. Shanes losing their county men for the league and a few others to travelling will likely see them go back down.

Cullyhanna will likely win league and championship double, have got a few boys back i think and with 3 excellent forwards on the county panel will be too much for anyone come championship time. Can see Culloville giving them their fill of it though and won’t be far away from silverware themselves, seems to be great stuff going on in that club. Surprised at Pearse Og’s narrow losses to the 2 best teams in the league followed by a surprising loss to Tullysaran, would have thought they’d have pulled together and go back up but could end up on a slippery slope again. No bad teams in that league though and any one of 4 or 5 could go down.

2B league table will likely end up similar to how it is now, Whitecross seem to be going well with couple of big wins. Derrynoose have a great defensive record, got draws against the 2 tesms only down from 2a which is impressive and will likely stay up and could be pushing towards the top spots. Annaghmore and Belleek will fancy themselves as well for promotion. Forkhill look to be feeling the loss of their county men but should survive on the basis that Cross and Middletown are just worse teams.

In 3A Clonmore and Collegeland look far too strong and should bounce back up, Lissummon have lost a couple of lads to travels and could go down after such a good year last year. Dorsey likely join them. Thought Eire Og would have fared better in that league this year but obviously early yet. Ballyhegan have got a couple of lads back as well so are capable of going on a run.

In 3B, good to see CE seconds fielding snd seem to be doing well, must be serious numbers with them. An Port Mor will probably be disappointed to be in this league tbh and have got off to a good start. Clady always tough to beat and have started rightly.

I see Middletown and Dorsey have both been mathematically relegated from Intermediate B (Middletown) and Junior A (Dorsey).. Grange on the brink of relegation from Senior B. any promotion/relegation predictions?

After this weeks fixtures the outcome of the leagues will look a lot clearer. A few teams look in trouble across all the Divisions. Barring major surprises or upturns in fortune, two out of Granemore, Nab & Mullaghbawn will go down from 1A (couple of big mid-Armagh derbies tonight)

In 1B it will be either Shane’s or Clan na Gael to make the drop along with the Grange. Can’t see where the Grange will pick up any more points.

It’s looking ominous for Wolfe Tone’s in 2A and Tír na nÓg look the most likely to join them unless they can pull off a huge result v Pearse Óg this weekend - not likely.

Middletown are gone in 2B, one from Cross, Whitecross and Forkhill to join them - probably one from the latter two.

3A is tighter than two coats of paint - Dorsey gone and only 3 pts separating the teams below Clonmore. Anyone’s guess here!

Looking more like Shane O’Neills heading to 2A after yesterdays results. Not the best game by any stretch.
Clans got a draw

Tell ye what men, the fixtures have been a shambles. 12 games for a league campaign isn't acceptable.

We have had huge breaks in between games and if it wasn't for reserve fixtures we would struggle to keep a squad.

We will play 3 games in 7 weeks here to finish the league.

No point whining about it

It's been like that the past number of years.

Theres a break for holidays coming up I believe as well

Different league formats have been tried and I think this one has the balance right at 14 games

Would be interested to know if players and managers would like a mid season mini cup (regional more than likely) and a chance maybe to play players who have not played much or have been injured?
Could be opt out opt in

With round robin championships however we have much less room for this

Is this not what the reserve league is for?
