I took a dander into Davitt Park yesterday. Not very often we get competitive games played in the Lurgan area anymore unless it's the local club games - debates the competitive term and moves on!! I'm not even sure if competitive Hurling outside of Sean Treacy's is played so it was enjoyable to spend a few hours on a lovely day close to home for a change. I know the Derrynoose lads may beg to differ.Derrynoose beaten by 2 points. 1.12 to 13 points. Good close game. The just about better team winning.
I stayed on to watch the second game and again I hold my hands up, Hurling is not a game I know a big pile about, but really enjoy watching. I honestly thought that the quality of Hurling in the first game was better and that both Lavey and Sarsfields did more "bullying" of each other and getting in the refs face throughout.how did both teams play? and who played well?
Middletown have any chance against Lavey?

My relatively limited experience of Hurling had me enjoying a very good game. Might not be one for the purist, but certainly entertaining. It was easy to see why the previous encounter was a draw and this one looked to be heading the same way for long spells. A really impressive never say die attitude from Derrynoose and I'd agree completely with Throwball, that it was possibly just on balance the right result, but only just. Some great scores in it and thoroughly enjoyed by myself and the small group of friends that watched it.
It did alright. Great facility now. Just a pity there isn't concrete down both sides for supporters, but I imagine that's mega money and will come in time. The new building has only recently been finished and is a credit I must say. Great wee enclosed area for kids training and I'm sure for the bigger lads/lasses. The lights are on regularly all year round on that one. A real credit to those that have fund raised and sought grants etc.Must say the pitch looked in great shape yesterday. Credit to thone involved. Also there seems to have been a bit of building work done since I was last there.
I see on the Ulster GAA website it's down on Sunday 22nd October at 2.30pm. No venue though.Any word on time/date/venue of the Middletown game?
