Club management

They must have plenty of cash to spare. The big man is well known for needing a wheelbarrow full of the queens head before he will take a session.

Trained a team in Down 4 times the week after they were put out of the championship to push for the league. Him paid by the session...
That right aye? This type of tripe allowed on the forum now?

I’m not making any insinuations directed at Belleeks but as a general point…

You’d have to be completely deluded not to think certain club managers aren’t taking “generous mileage allowances” these days.

Do people really think these fellas trek the length of the country to some obscure club they have no affinity to, in another county they’ve no affinity to, that are willing to sacrifice their evenings and weekends, to train a bunch of fellas they don’t know nor have ever met, simply for “the love of the game”?

Fair play to the clubs who have the resources/wealthy backers to throw money at outsiders and more power to them if they actually win something. Sometimes there are no takers within a club when it comes to appointing an outsider and I don’t begrudge any club that does. But for people to pretend it isn’t widespread or that it doesn’t happen at all is idiocy.

That’s not to say that there aren’t men out there who are taking clubs and ask for nothing more than expenses and associated costs with running a team but they are as just as common as the money men.

As for the money men themselves, I don’t begrudge them either, if they have found an extra source of income fair play to them.

The story reference training the Down side is true as a friend plays for them so that isn't tripe.

As for the reference to Dawson being well known for being expensive, speak to any club he has been involved in and then let me know how much tripe it is.

The wording may well have been jovial but the point remains.

So none of your information is first hand. Good to know.

It's that time of year again chaps. So who's going where with what teams? Hearing plenty of clubs in the market for new management.

Pearse ogs on the hunt after big fall out with Clarke last year. Reel gone from cullyhanna after being relegated. Clann eireann and dromintee needing new men too. Maghery to get rid of the Tyrone man. Cruppen players wanting new management and silverbridge roading their management too after player revolt. Add in whitecross, Grange and mcgilly stepping aside again in annaghmore and there seems to be nothing but clubs looking new managers. Granemore out a fortune too might lose their man to another club.

Pretty much all those teams are on a downward trajectory apart from Clann Éireann & Silverbridge who will attract decent appointments - it will be interesting to see who fills those positions. The Clans are also on the hunt for a new manager after Marsden stepped down, big boots to fill there. Granemore flattered to deceive in the championship, the beauty of knockout football I suppose. I think Cullyhanna might attract a semi-decent appointment as there’s an IFC up for grabs for them, the rest of clubs are all varying degrees of mediocre within their respective grades, and won’t really attract much interest.
