Dyas

officially retired according to today’s Irish News

Mentioned him to my Dad just this week, as there had been no word of retirement I'd been hoping he might be another possibility for next year, but with this news obviously not :(

A real talent who unfortunately never managed to reach his true potential in an Armagh jersey due to injury. I definitely believe a fully fit Kevin Dyas would have been among the 1st players named on a teamsheet, so much to offer.

I would like to thank him for his contribution to Armagh football & wish him all the best for the future.

Best of luck to him.

A superb talent (along with Down's Martin Clarke) an underage.

A perfect example why young footballers shouldn't be taking up professional contracts in Australia

Sorry to hear he is retiring and a real pity that we did not get to see one of the most talented footballers we have produced in full flow for a full season. I remember an article a year or so ago that detailed the training/rehabilitation schedule he was going through in order to recover from latest injury and get back to fitness; there was no doubt of his commitment to get back into things.
As much as injury played a factor in denying him reaching his full potential as an Armagh player, so also was the inability of various managerial regimes to recognize what he could bring to a team. For a while he seemed to be lined out anywhere. The most glaring example for me was the 2007 U21 semi final against Cork-a game that we could won with his ability to bring cohesion and purpose to any attack, but instead we adopted (again) a tentative and overly cautious strategy that included Dyas lining out at right full back. W.T.F.
Paul Grimley moving Dyas in the half forward line was an important factor that really energised the 2014 team. He was an unsung hero against Cavan in the first round, gathering ball and drawing Cavan defence out of position before delivering simple but ruthlessly effective and intelligent passes to carve them open. Was superb against Monaghan in the 2014 Ulster semi-the Farney recognized him as the threat and targeted him for the replay.
See him playing for Kilmacud Crokes. Hope he goes on an All Ireland with these guys.
