No idea why they would go that way when the knockout championship has been so entertaining
Because not one club put forward a motion to keep the knockout championship
I agree with you that it's the best format
I think it was brought in during covid

Maybe the gap between league and championship is too great for potentially one game. A local club to me had their second last league game, a 4 week gap, their last league game, and a 5 week gap to championship last year. That's no good for any player! (albeit an exception probably, but it can and does happen)

Scheduling issues, also the fact some divisions last year had 7 teams and some had 9 probably didn’t help due to covid knock on effects. No reason why leagues can’t be finished in time to give a 3 lead in to championship.

Group stage championship is soulless. Means a team could take a big skelp against the likes of Cross and it would mean nothing as Cross would still be in the championship and end up hammering them next time round. Knockout the only way to go

Looks like a lot of hard work in changing dates of games to accommodate requests has been done there with those published fixtures

Definitely not easy to agree fixtures so fair play to the CCC for putting them out.

A lot of teams have big gaps between games but suppose it’s the best that can be done.

Is the championship groups of 3 again?
