Story goes, Soupy gonna give soccerball a rattle and not returning this year. I'm dubious about it, but the lad that told me would be reliable most of the time

Should a few of the forum members start looking for their boots in case they get a call up?!?! The number of absentees for the new Season is starting to get seriously worrying!!!

Was reading balls.ie and it has a quote from jounalist Ewan Mackenna that for GAA development funding in 31 counties to be brought up to the same level per player as Dublin the budget would have to increase from €3m to €90m. With so many factors weighted against many counties and so much unrealistic expectation is it a surprise so many opt out. Armagh should be trying to move on from last year. However, from the sound of things they may have to settle for another year of consolidation.

I can't see how, under the current system we are gonna get out of div.3 of the NFL, except with a few lucky results and then best case is we maintain div.2 status with some more of the hard work the lads are already putting in along with whatever new players bring to the table in coming years.

As for championship, a quarter final spot each year could become the reality of our expectation or ambition. Would this bring in enough revenue to maintain our finances on the level we are even currently at? The future could indeed be bright. The future looks navy and sky blue. That to me (and it's purely a personal opinion) could become the death nail of the sports we love. The drive from Croke Park for globalisation means they have lost sight of where we came from and where we should be. Yes it is fantastic that ex-pats play and maintain the links with their heritage, but lets be real, a world series is never gonna be an economical or physical reality. Apart from anything else, when the hell would it be played without players becoming professional? And then what suffers if not the national championships already under pressure? The big bang theory could be being played out in front of us. Brexit? Nothing but chicken feed compared to what our HQ is blindly doing. We are already pricing the grass roots supports with small kids and families out of travelling to bigger games. I guess they'll have to extend those corporate boxes into the upper decks in Croke Park. I've already heard talk of corporate boxes at the Athletic Grounds? The mind boggles!!

It's all about the dough. Inter county football is like the Premier League. Dublin win 3 in a row, and frankly the whole c'ship is dull as dishwater.

Tyrone are a decent side, and they're walloped by Dublin. The GAA have created a beast and it cannot be killed. They said the GAA need Dublin. Well it survived mightily for 16 years without them winning Sam.

The sad thing is that you both may be correct. Of the top of my head Down, Derry, Donegal, Dublin, Kerry, Meath , Cork, Armagh and Tyrone won the All Ireland in the 20 years from 1991 to 2010. That is 9 different winners. Can we say there will by any more than 3 or 4 winners in the next 20? We in Armagh have a unique perspective of how one teams dominance can effect a championship. The GAA is facing one of its biggest crisis and I don' t think they see it. Some way has to be found to pool and distribute money so that it is distributed more equitably and the championship made more competitive. Even in an amateur game money is important.

You forgot Galway but your point my remains. I'd even say can you see anyone outwith Dublin and Kerry winning for the foreseeable future
