John Morrison R.I.P

It was early today when I received a text message about John. I couldn't and guess I still can't take it in. I spoke to him only recently and he was on top of the world. He had been ill for a while but had got the best news possible and was doing well again.

John is someone I can proudly say was a true friend. Boy I'm gonna miss some of the worst jokes delivered in the most horrible fashion ever, but I'll bloody miss them and always looked forward to the next one.

Only a few short weeks ago I got a message from John after he had heard about my aunt passing away while I was in Newbridge and I don't mind sharing it with you "Head up kid. The best go first to clean the room for us. I'm here for you anytime you want to talk" and he would have meant that too. It's the type of person he was. Loved by many, admired by all and always, always so forthcoming with help and advice. His knowledge of Gaelic game skills and indeed sports endeavour in general was immense. He wasn't big on limelight, but he advised and helped those that had to be there.

It was a privilege and an honour to have known him and if there truly is an afterlife, then that's where he's headed. Thank you John for some fabulous memories. Rest easy my friend and may you always have the ear of someone who cares. You will never ever be forgotten.

This is taken from The Harps Facebook page:

On behalf of the family I am passing on this message as of 14.30 13/02/19

John Morrison’s remains are with the coroner in Belfast so it definitely won’t be tonight that he will be home. Can I ask you to get word out to watch out for papers and online for funeral details as the family are inundated at the minute

Thanks
