Lot of talk here about who to bring in and drop. All well and good bringing people into the squad but will they be given a proper chance, Mark Toal from the grange, drafted into mc kenna cup and league squad, didnt see any action in a back line that lacked pace and a comfortable ball carrier.
What I will say is that the level of the club game in Armagh is a problem. The big 2 clubs in Armagh city and the big Lurgan clubs are off the pace at the minute. They would agree with that themselves if asked. I know division 1B was not finished, but the Grange still had a chance at promotion to 1A and pushed Killeavy to extra time in the championship, a decent team and improving, but shows where armagh football is, big clubs not producing for some reason and some smaller clubs now in the upper echlons and holding their own. Maybe we need to think of another slight restructure to the leagues. But the likes of the harps and the ogs, the clans in lurgan, these teams need to improve to increase the standard of armagh club football. More teams need to push cross. Root and branch reform needed at club level and underage level first.
Mc geeney will be around next season as well, so bygones need to be bygones with any player alienated in the past. If your good enough to play county football you have to be invited back, end off. Both Mc Kenna's from the grange are good enough, Michael needs invited back, guile, creativity and scoring threat in abundance from the half forward line. Armagh needs its best players, at the minute we don't have them.
