Mayo v Armagh

Jesus myself and @Rufus T Firefly are being made out to be some sort of gurus....or is it that we’re are old and busted?:p To be honest as we are of a similar run we have seen the lows and highs and also we both have played a bit so we know what the craic generally is.

Mine does listen Pat but the problem is she’s from Tyrone....I have to listen to her too:D
Ah crap bcb, at first reading I thought you were acknowledging she was a problem, then I realised you made the choice to marry her knowing her frailty. Not quite sure how low someone can be in terms of "my opinion" but now sadly you're so low I can't even see the bottom of the hole. Never again will I enjoy your posts. And to think I "liked"most of your recent musings!! ;) Oh and "so I did!" A return to my natural brethren must now be made Lest We Forget, so we might!

If I were you @Big Jim i would go back and ‘unlike’ all the posts of his that you liked. That’ll show him! ;)

I've just today had a chance to watch a recording of the game as I was away for a couple of days. Really strange knowing the result and still thinking we were gonna win.

Few mistakes made, but so did Mayo. Ref made a few bad calls, but they weren't all against us. In the time added on we did have our share of chances, just managing not to capitalise and squandered too many. Overall maybe a better performance than we have had for a while and I'm certainly very proud to declare as a supporter of the orchard county. Some real talent on show and it'll likely improve, along with a few more additions.

I'm gonna hate myself for this, but I think we need to improve our keeper. Unlike others, I don't believe we grow the baby out with the bath water, but instead do better goalkeeping coaching. Brian McAlinden has a great reputation as a coach in that area and maybe even Paddy Morrison if he's interested. Let's improve what we have, add another two to aid in competition for the place

Just watching the recording:

Our goalkeeper had a great day with kick outs - I'm sure he knows could have perhaps done better on the 1st goal. The second goal - too many steps - and a mishit

Brendan Donaghy - immense throughout. Like a good wine getting better and better

Niall Grimley point from 50yds from a standing position superb

Jarly Og - was targeted very subtly throughout.

Rian is only 20 yrs old only 20. That pass to Grugan for the goal chance was simply outstanding - power and accuracy.
We have a midfield pairing that will be around for 5-6 years

Jamie is really enjoying his football
Soupy had a Stormer - his point to make it 1-13 for Armagh was outstanding.

I calculated 7mins of additional time and it's the referee who decides how long there should be

Armagh never ever gave up. Their fitness is right up there
We have the talent

Decision making - when to shoot, when to stay down, when not to concede silly 13yd advances and making a free a scorable free. Fix these, same effort and silverware and promotion is there.

Think we shouldn't have conceded the kick-out for most of the second half - we're better than that. Does anyone know what the orders were from Paddy McK to Grimley at the end? Go short then take back and shoot? Niall should probably have tried to carry it in a little closer but would have loved to have seen Rian have a go off the ground. Damage was done before this though!

Admin statement:

We've had quite a few messages about comments from various members and a number of those were complaints. From the start we said this is a members forum and each opinion is as valid as the next. As long as it's not abusive towards a member, no action will be taken. You may not agree with what is said, but it doesn't mean it is not allowed or worthy of removal. If we were to remove posts we don't agree with, this would become just like the official forum used to be. We want to avoid that.

We have not removed or edited any posts over the last few days and simply let everyone get on with it. However a large number of posts have been removed or edited by the original poster. This refers to opinions and language. Yes some of the language used has been strong, but we originally asked if this was an issue for members and the consensus was it wasn't, so again unless it becomes abusive, it will remain. We prefer it was toned back, but it's up to individual members to decide if it is appropriate.

We have also had several messages from some claiming to act on behalf of the county board. They refuse to identify themselves and therefore their message carries no weight.

This forum allows members to have a unique username of their choosing. Several are well known and have no problem with people knowing who they are. It is not however a secretive forum and users will not be warned or removed for discussing who they are.

This is all about our passion for all things Armagh GAA and sometimes it may get the run of itself. Relax and enjoy the forum. Some choose serious discussion. Others choose to use it as a comical release. Both, or indeed other ways to enjoy the forum are all acceptable. If you don't like what someone posts or says, ignore it or them and move on to the next post. You can even choose to ignore messages from certain posters in settings and also follow others if you wish. We won't be removing someone or asking them to tone down just because you don't like what they say. Remember not everyone will like you either. Since we started this forum we have blocked 3 users because they were obviously foreign spam accounts - most likely Russian - and two for impersonating another user. We haven't removed or edited a single other post.

Folks, this has been a great place to be over the last couple of years and we hope you agree. We stay in the background and don't interfere. We really want it to stay like that. Please help us by self regulating.

Great performance from our team every player gave his all, their never say die fighting spirit bodes well for the future.

Most counties in Ireland would be delighted to have the panel of players which Kieran McGeeney has assembled, I believe he has done a good job during his time in charge and should stay for another couple of seasons.

Mistakes happen in most games,no player goes out to make one but they do happen and sometime they can lose a team the game.

The goalkeeping question has raised its head again, how many players in this position over the last ten years have been hounded by posters, give this lad a bit of slack, though not very tall he is very agile, and has made many great saves over the last couple of years, his or any keepers kickouts are only as good as the position the outfield players take up to receive the ball.

Paddy is doing a keeper coaching camp this week and I know of a few young fellas who have been to similar things he has done before and loved it. On the other hand if i am not mistaken I have seen Ciaran McKinney working with the keeper in warms ups a few matches this year. So an effort is being made in that regard
