The elbow from the no 24 was scumbag stuff. No other way of saying it - he knew what he was doing, raised his elbow and intentionally hit him.

However paudie Clifford seemed to sited by the linesman who informed the referee.
Subsequent TV shots show a hand reaching over the players head with part of his hand on the face.
It will be interesting if the southern media have other shots of where his hand was from the other side of the pitch
Maybe paudie Clifford did something before that but he was caught for something.

It was a great game to watch and tainted by the cards at the end.
However for that embarrassment of a gaa president to get the winning captains name wrong is just unforgivable.
You could nearly see that Clifford was lining up a good speech and he didn't fail
He let himself down

I don’t think Paudie Cliffords was an eye gouge in fairness to him, but contact with an opponents head/face off the ball is nearly always gonna be a red card. Elbow was brutal, obvious straight red and not much else to say.

David Clifford has the patience of a saint not to bury lads goading him, just shuts them up on the scoreboard. Don’t know what the number 2 was at trying to wind him up after he’d been sent off after Clifford running rings round them all day.

I have to admit I had a good chuckle at the speech.
