Yes
And will create bigger gulf between county teams in different divisions, similar to hurling. Its not with arrogance or any level of relish I say this, but Armagh v Antrim could be really ugly in terms of a scoreline.
Yes would expect there to be some hammerings now in provincial matches. A division 3 or 4 team could previously park the bus and restrict the space, but not any more.

Anyone else seem to think there are more hammerings with the new points system?
Even amoungst the bigger teams, Teams like Dublin getting beaten by 12/13 points in three of their games would have been a huge shock in previous years, it has in somewhat already become the norm in this new system.

This version of Dublin could well have taken a few beatings in previous years, they're a fair bit away from their peak of 6 in a row. Maybe not by 12 in fairness

The kickout change and no back pass to goalkeeper has caused this.
Previously teams could've taken a short kick out and arsed around, killing time between scores. Our game vs Down was very bad for it last year. They had very little intention of trying to score, their focus was on limiting the number of attacks we could have running the clock down when they had the ball.
Without the kickout change, we don't score 4 goals vs Derry like we did. They'd have gotten a short kickout off after the first one and taken their time to work the ball up the field, killing the momentum and steadying themselves again. We probably wouldn't even have had another attack in the entire time it took us to score the next 3 goals.

Overall a positive, teams shouldn't be able to stay in a game by using such dreary tactics. Go and win a contest if you don't want a hammering.

Not overly impressed with div2 final

It's chaotic, mistakes galore, no break for players
But this is what is deemed as entertainment
I'd rather see tactics - one team playing their way, the other team playing differently. But that won't happen now
I disagree. Was at the game. Thoroughly entertaining. Great atmosphere compared to what would’ve been a monotonous affair last year. Some fine long range scores and end to end until Monaghan rightly pulled away.

Super win for Monaghan. The sad thing is, they generally turn their noses up at this and think they are AI contenders. They haven't made a final since the 30's. The system should be set up so that the cup would be paraded through Clontibret tonight (enjoy the reference) if all was organised right, but a scarce crowd attend HQ & little made of a national title??

Haven't spoke to one Monaghan person who reckon they are or were AI contenders.....
I reckon 95% of the crowd were Monaghan. Very little Roscommon people there. The time also had a major factor. 7.15 on a Saturday night is no good - also when most would've presumed it would've been the Sunday as per history before the Div 1 game.

Wouldn't breffni been ideal for Monaghan v Roscommon?

No need to play all these games in croke park.

Kildare and Offaly could have tossed for venue.

I see hurling people whining about some of their venues

Can't all be played in croke park
Venue should suit the expected crowd - wait where did we hear that before?

But the players want their wee day in sun in Croke Park & it's our national stadium

Yes it's nice to say they've played there but the atmosphere and attendance has to be a factor.

Croke park great when it's 50k+
10-20k just looks empty.

It's the balancing act
If Kerry v mayo was in thurles might have been a bigger crowd.

We seem to be on the sport fixated with playing in croke park, county grounds etc
Are you playing the occasion or the venue?

Teams, particularly those in the top 10, who have All Ireland ambitions want more games in Croke Park.

The more they familiarise themselves with Croke Park, the pitch surface, atmosphere, dressing rooms, and the whole rigmarole of the day, the better equipped they will be come the business end of the championship.

No set of players or management will be turning down a match at Croke Park, even if it makes perfect sense for a local venue (eg. Roscommon v Monaghan in Breffni).

Plus, Division 3 and 4 teams want their big day in Croke Park as well, as it might only be a once in a generation thing.

So, finals in a quarter/half full Croke Park will continue,

The amount of fouling by both teams in the div 1 final was shocking. Mayo are seriously lacking attacking options, the amount of players turning down shooting chances was mad. They did not deserve to be in the final, in fact neither team did. It was a stark contrast to the div 1 final last year. Likewise with the div 2 final, I can't see either team getting close to an All Ireland unlike Armagh and Donegal but maybe hindsight is helping me here.

Mayo have gone backwards under McStay... Turns out he isn't great at being a manager or a pundit.

I think you have the benefit of hindsight. There was nothing about the Div 2 final last year that indicated success for Armagh or Donegal, whereas Dublin and Derry might have been expected to reach the semi-final at least.
Monaghan showed an ability to use the 2 pointers, they might not win the AI but they could cause trouble to a front runner.

Everyone outside Armagh after the final last year would've said Armagh or Donegal won't win the all-ireland.......
