New Faces / Returners

I think it is time the McKenna Cup competition was discontinued, it has outlived its usefulness. As Eireogatron says it will be used mostly to look at fringe players. Surely the Armagh management do not need to look at such players, if they do not know the best 30 players in the county after five years in charge there is something very wrong.
the best 30 players last year may not be the best 30 this year

Apparently new kid on the block is Matthew girvan. Known to be a bit of a party boy which has effected his involvement with the county panel but has showed at minor and u21 what he is capable off. Watch out for him this year

He must do magic tricks now because I have seen him play. Must be better at the partying than football

Anyone any idea on the possibility of whether Rian O'Neill or Ross McQuillan are likely to sign with AFL clubs following last week's combine?

Hope you’re right. I don’t follow McQuillan on IG but I believe he posted pics of himself at the recent combine

Don't think either are going anywhere. Rian has another years Uni has he not? And Ross is probably a bit light for Aussies. Thank god I might add because he is gonna be electric in the orange
Yeah I was beside McQuillan's uncle (he said, but I don't know him at all) and he reckons like you say, he'll not be going away even though he did real well in the trials!

I think McQuillan would actually be a better fit down under than O'Neill - he's a similar mould to Conor McKenna. Fingers crossed neither go - players never come back the same from there!
Indeed-most of the Irish guys who successfully make the transition to AFL end up playing as a half back or across the centre field line. The Aussies like a player with 'dash' who can break out at speed from the half back line. Very difficult for Irish guys to play as a forward (especially a full forward) in Aussie Rules. A lot of nuances to playing that position that can only really be learnt from growing up playing the game. O'Neill is a fabulous prospect and great athlete but I would think McQuillan might adapt better to the Aussie game

McQuillan has gone to AFL

Hopefully he comes back eventually an ever better player for the experience.
They usually come back banjaxed unfortunately. Glad for lad as i'm sure this is his dream. Armagh's loss without a doubt. Goes to show you all those comments during the year about not being able to play due to AFL were indeed correct. McGeeney got the blame anyway mind you.

Should we start to pay our county players lads to keep them in the Country? Get a wee survey up there someone.

In Regards to actual new faces or returners to this year's squads does anyone have any early contenders?
