Any sign of that new railway line from Portadown - Armagh - Cavan - Athlone? Would be handy if they had it up and running for next weekend.

Just over a week to go. Anyone want to hazard a guess at our starting line up,
Guessing about 3 “suprise” additions i.e. lads who didn’t play in the All Ireland.

Anyone know how far away the long term injured Mackin and O’Neill are? May not see much of them this year.. Did Morgan come back this year?

Any new additions such as oneill from Crossmaglen, oneill from clan na Gael? Is oneill from Killeavy back from injury? Any other O’Neills about?

Heard he was going really well in training, be good to see him get a run but he’s only a cub yet. Still O’Neill from Belleek on the squad as well lol

He seems to be coming into his own the last year or so, he could be a big player for us. That’s right, another oneill haha

Today's club final might be the last game many of us see (assuming not many watch midweek sigerson) under the old rules. But change was needed, maybe not so much at club but certainly at county level, hurling has become the superior sport to watch so it was a case of change or get left behind.

Let's hope Geezer and the boys adopt quick, very open championship for me and wouldn't be surprised if someone in the rankings from like 5th to 9th go and win it, thinking teams like Cork or Roscommon etc.

Will certainly be interesting if nothing else. Roll on Salthill

If hurling was refereed to rule it'd be a very boring game
Serious amount of throwballs, tackling that is more akin to wrestling but sure it's a mana game and so on

Football does not need so many changes and I suspect from what is anecdotally being said that the level of fitness has to go way up, the tackle is nearly non existent (this was never took on properly) and the role of the single match official at club games should demand either more help or reduced rules to look after

I suspect the first few games will be very strange to watch and to understand some of the finer points of the rules
There will be mistakes by everyone involved - let's hope they don't seriously impact a result

I agree with you on Murphy. His last 2 years he looked leggy. Add another 2 years out of inter county football, and i dont think he is goign to have the return many expect.

Heres is my two pence worth

Galway are Galway - Decent team, hard to beat, but don't have the minerals with it comes to it imo.

Tyrone will get a kick out of O'Rourke. But he isn't a miracle worker. They have been ket the last 2 years. McCurry looks leggy, and I don't think the young boys coming through will make the impact they are touted to do so just yet. They have alot of the same type of player along the middle 8.

Kerry will be there or there abouts - but i wouldn't fear them.

Dublin I feel will struggle with the loss of a few big names. Again won't be easy beat but nothing to fear.

Mayo - Could be dark horses. Lots of people writing them off but if things fall right for them I can see them causing problems. They are a team I wouldn't want to face in a 1/4 or semi final on a warm day in Croke park.

Derry - I think that ship has sailed. Fell off massively last year after the league. I would fancy us big time to turn them over again.

Conclusion - Donegal and Mayo are the 2 teams I would hope to avoid. Although lets be realistic, there is 4/5 teams that could turn each other over.
All these teams can beat eachother on their day but I think Kerry have no midfielder so a team squeezing up could reap rewards, Dublin alot of people leaving but they are the only county that could pull players outta nowhere who are quality with the player pool they have, Donegal have long range shooters maybe they lack depth, mayo have a good squad depth now but alot of middle 8 players still need another scoring forward, Tyrone have massive potential with their squad and young players coming through they have a high ceiling but a low floor new management will be hoping for more consistency they are the team hardest to predict, Galway and all round great team that can play any style but they need to keep players a few seem to drop off every year, Derry is hard to know what to think as they went so bad last year has a wee feeling that Gallagher milked every drop out of these players and playing the intensity they played with is hard to keep up year after year, I think Armagh are similar to Galway in we have have players to suit the new rules and have a good squad but it is starting to age,

I do think the new rules will suit Rosscommon they are outside the top 8 imo, if I was doing a ranking (just my opinion)
1. Galway
2. Donegal
3. Dublin
4. Armagh
5. Tyrone
6. Kerry
7. Mayo
8. Derry

Any of these winning the all Ireland would t suprise me at all
