Yeah Joe, club championship have been played at Garvaghey, but I don't think senior county has.
Cloghan has hosted Senior County Hurling and club championship and McKenna Cup. Inniskeen (being a training facility and not necessarily a COE although it was before Coghan was completed) hosts Senior McKenna Cup and League games. It also hosts Senior Hurling. We've played there.

They................eh I mean we don't have a hurling team in Maghery or at leat not in the familiar sense, but their...dammit, our footballers have played there. So have many of our county teams, as well as trained there on many occasions so they have.

Garvaghy held Tyrone v Armagh national league ladies game this year when Omagh was closed due to a puddle.

    Attendance was how many?
What im saying is that a training facility could hold low attendance games but not mens inter county unless its a challenge game.
I suppose this discussion starts when the facility is finished.

We played Antrim in Glenavy in the McKenna cup which wasn’t much better than playing at a training facility.

And I'd say it was as good an atmosphere as we had all season. Great wee facility and kids were able to get real close to their heroes. I guess if I'm honest I miss the good old days of playing at smaller tight facilities that add atmosphere.

Appears this was given the go ahead on Tuesday night by the clubs in Armagh. Personally I think it would be a great facility.

to be honest bull, in construction these days, £2.5m doesnt really buy a lot. I was surprised how well it looked and how much they are getting for the money. If it comes in on budget, £2.5m is a snip in my opinion.

Has money been raised for this already. What amount needs to be raised and how much will be via government grants?

Dungannon hurlers got good grants for their facilities so the money must be available .

From what I see of the sketches, there only seems to be a terracing along one side of the pitches. Just over half the length of the field.

Therefore, I assume there won’t be many McKenna/club championship matches pencilled in for the new training complex.

That’s disappointing if that is the case. Missed opportunity I think.

The facility looks fantastic. I can think of few other counties that would have this sort of training complex. It's long overdue and will hopefully benefit some of the current generation of players and definitely the next. In terms of the location, it would always be the case that some people would have further to travel to it than others. £2.5 million does seem like a low amount when you think of all the pitches that will need built as well as the building, car parking and all the fittings and gear to go into the building. It's so important to have this for the development of all the county teams; that one place where you can train, develop and rehab. It will also be aspirational for young players coming through knowing that they have this place to train out of.

It doesn't guarantee success, but it certainly helps you in developing players and teams towards that goal.

I'm glad to see you posting the £2.5m figure because I was starting to think it was just me that seen that. Almost everywhere else I've seen the figure at £5m lately.

Is 2.5 the figure without the grants?
