Yes I do the same. You see the game from a different viewpoint, and of course, the cameras pick up wee things you miss.

I think @ragingbull is just used to arriving at a game at half time hoping the stewards will let him in without paying :D

Speaking of rewatching games. I've never watched the 03 final since. I don't think I've rewatched the 05 semi either. I just cannae do it, captain.

Nope I am right there with you, neither match watched again nor will they be, EVER :(

After the league what positions aren' nail on? 4 with Hughes out . Rest full back line is set burns McKay. Hb one place open with no shields so Donaghy mccabe start. Middle is settled hf is tough 10 perhaps crealy most risk as grimley forker start. Ff grugan murnin rafferty. Crealey Mcshane mcparland dyas McKenna duffy all chasing 1 spot?

My championship team would be

Hughes
Burns McKay Sheilds
Donaghy McCabe McElroy/Roland
Bug Charlie
Mini Forker Grimley
Grugan Raff Murnin

Wouldn’t be surprised if forker started in the back line for McElroy/Roland and either Crealey, mcparland, dyas, McKenna or duffy coming into the forward line considering the way Fermanagh will play.

I wouldn’t say midfield is set at all. I could see Grimley taking one of those spots and leaving a half forward free for someone else. I don’t think the two boys have been great for a few games now. While they will most likely start I wouldn’t say they are nailed on. I thought Mc Shane coming on really improved the balance. Much more pace and Grimley is a better midfielder than 12!

Gotta agree as I think midfield has been a nightmare for us this year. Charlie has been excellent and maybe playing the best county football of his career possibly buoyed and inspired by his county title. He is excellent clearing his lines and driving forward and I know he does a great job from midfield, but I think he's better off in halfback. Niall Grimley along with Stephen Sheridan would be my preferred midfield partnership.............but who to release to leave Charlie on the starting 15 unless it was a straight swap with Niall????

I know sometimes this year we've looked and thought we have no real depth in our bench, but with everyone available, we'd have a hell of a good go at getting to an Ulster Final or AI Semi-Final. Let me dream.................... please!

If you're going to dream, wouldn't you dream about actually winning the All Ireland? :p

In all seriousfulness, I hear this alot. I heard Monaghan should be aiming to reach an AI semi this year. Why? What good is that? Aim to win it. Ok, Dublin will be hard to stop, but if you're going out with that half-arsed attitude, you're already beaten.

So, let us aim for the AI this year! Come on, who's with me?...

While I 100% agree we should be "AIMING" to win everything we enter, my take is on what might be realistic with will and determination, remembering we are coming from division 3 preparation so an Ulster Final or AI semi-final would be a great step up. I'm not Mr stats so can't say, but I doubt anyone has ever won from div. 3 or equivalent and if we smashed it then I'd possibly enjoy it much more than the '02 win as we were knocking on the door for a few years first then. Recently we've been standing close to the emergency exit.

As for "So, let us aim for the AI this year! Come on, who's with me?..." sure that's a gimme every year and why we are so damn annoyed when we get knocked out. I'd love to go one further than "them'uns" this year down to mainly one person in particular who partakes in mouthing us off on bakeache! It'd be great to shove his smug camera up his smug.............em, a**e!!

Ach yeah, I know what you mean. We obviously can't win Ulster or AIs every year, but we should fear nobody either.

If Monaghan do reach that semi final, in their heads, they've achieved their goal, and might think, ah well we've done well to get here. But who remembers semi finalists? Or finalists? Or that they were only beat by a point? Nobody.

If we're winning our first game (Fermanagh), we should look ahead to win our next, and next etc, a la Down in 1991. Nothing is impossible.

Don’t know if this has been mentioned or if it’s nothing but in the TG4 coverage that I’ve watched a couple of times I see shots of Geezer & Paddy McK - never saw Jim McCorry once, was he there?

Only the manager and runner are allowed allowed to stand along the line during the game - selectors, doctor etc must sit down. I seen his face in a picture online during post match celebrations so he must have been there
