Armagh GAA publish dynamic and vibrant strategy ‘For Club & County’
Armagh GAA has published a new five-year strategic plan – For Club & County.
Club and county representatives joined Uachtarán CLG Larry McCarthy and Uachtarán Chomhairle Uladh Ciaran McLoughlin, to officially launch the plan and announce a new shared vision for the Gaels of Ard Mhacha.
Welcoming everyone to the official strategy launch, Armagh GAA Chairperson, Paul McArdle said,
“After months of engagement and considering everyone’s views to shape our future, we are delighted to present a new dynamic and vibrant strategic plan ‘For Club & County’.
“It is our clubs that introduce us all to the GAA, and our plan is unashamedly club-centred, in recognition of the pivotal role they play – this is where our journey begins.
“Our aim is simple, we want to make our clubs, and in turn our county, the best we can be, in everything we do. We are proud of this plan, a shared-vision powered by our people and together we will work diligently to drive progress and reach our potential – For Club & County.”
The implementation plan has identified key priorities such as coaching and county training facilities. Work is already underway to provide additional investment and improve coaching in clubs, schools and development teams.
Last month club representatives at the county committee meeting approved the commencement of phased construction works at St. Malachy’s Portadown. This will deliver additional grass training pitches, critically needed to cater for county teams.
Speaking about how the plan will be implemented, Planning and Training Officer, Emmet Haughian said,
“It’s important we filter our 61 main objectives down to day-to-day action and to do this, six delivery phases have been set, with the first one starting next month.
“The implementation group will continue to outline key priorities and work in partnership with all our people to agree timelines and more manageable actions for each of those 61 objectives, while balancing resources, to deliver our ambitious plan.”
Embedded by six key themes the dynamic and vibrant plan focuses on developing our games, enhancing our facilities, supporting our volunteers, engaging our communities, sustaining our heritage and managing our organisation.
