I see today they passed a motion that the management committee of the gaa has to have a minimum 40% female or male representation.

Totally disagree with this

It should always be about the right person for the role - male or female. If it's 100% female or 100% male it should not matter.

This would not be allowed in the workplace
The GAA is on a slippy slope and bowing down to idle threats is not leadership

I think they are doing it to meet government criteria for grant applications

Maybe so but I'd say if there's an advertised government job they can't just select someone to balance gender numbers
Shite like that is happening across the board. Positive discrimination. Being female or from a minority scores bonus points for some roles

Probably more to do with ensuring representation for all association codes quickly with the camogie and ladies football joining.

Nope as those association's can have a male leader.
All to do with the idle Irish government threat that grants would be withdrawn

Think your 100% right on this. It should be equality of opportunity not putting more of one sex or the other sex in just to even up the numbers
