St Ronan’s College Lurgan claimed its first MacRory Cup title today in the Athletic Grounds defeating St Mary’s of Magherafelt on a scoreline of 1-09 to 1-07.

St Ronan’s started the brightest in a nervy opening few minutes and raced into a four point lead with a coolly despatched penalty by Oisin Smyth and the Sarsfields man added a further point.

St Mary’s who reacted brilliantly to earn a penalty of their own to push into the lead with Daniel Bradley slotting low past the St Ronan’s keeper and adding points from Liam Quinn and Devlin.

St Ronan’s levelled the game when Eoin McConville kicked 2 quickfire points but St Mary’s went into the interval with a minimum margin lead when Tiarnan McAteer pointed.

Scores were exchanged in a tight but entertaining 2nd half but St Ronan’s Man of the match Rioghan Meehan landed three second-half points to give them the edge to run out 2 point winners and claim their maiden MacRory Cup success.

All from Armagh GAA would like to congratulate St Ronan’s on today’s success and we wish them the best of luck as they go on for Hogan Cup glory.
