Heard this too. Interesting one and will be beneficial but the question really needs to be asked why are we going to Kerry and no doubt paying a significant sum of money when we have very knowledgeable coaches in Armagh with actual knowledge of the local game? Also what coaching experience does he actually bring? I am not saying he does or doesn’t have coaching experience, simply asking the question.

When I first read this my first thought was why hasn't he brought in a top class defender to sort out the glaring problems in our defence as it is obvious nothing in the current management setup has even attempted to fix this problem (looks like that will continue). Instead he brings in a forward that is no doubt going to be training the forwards. Unsurprising really considering his comments after the Donegal game about the forwards.

Whilst it is not a particularly bad appointment Donaghy like him or not is a winner and he will have the forward line firing (I hope). I have said it before, Kerry folk have an unrivalled mentality when it comes to football in Ireland and if Donaghy can instil that in Armagh I am happy to have hin on board. With regards to not bringing in someone from within, perhaps an outsiders perspective is needed not just on the playing field but to highlight issues with our structures in place. Additionally, he has played numerous games against the league one teams which will be instrumental but if McGeeney think staying in D1 will save his job he needs to re-evaluate.

As for management experience, he was with IT Tralee but we haven't exactly got the dream team in terms of management. I thought Jim Mc would have moved on but it seems he is hanging around. No offence to Jim but if I was McGeeney I would take a cut throat approach and drop him and bring someone else in with a record - Possibly a transitional manager depending on how well we perform next year.

As for the players suppose to be opting out the panel for next season my guesses are Clarke is going to pack in football altogether, Jemar Hall and Rian O'Neill.

All very appropriate questions. I guess the proof of the pudding will be in the eating.

Why would they drop out, especially the latter?

Very knowledgeable coaches in Armagh????
Not sure who they are but in any case, surely Donaghy is more about 'how to perform at the highest level' rather than coaching the forwards.
I very much welcome Star's involvement - we need the mentality of winners and not just be happy that we are competitive.

Can I ask what he would bring to the table about performing at the highest level than day Oisin McConville wouldn’t bring? What would he have in terms of ‘the mentality of winners’ that Oisin doesn’t have? 1 simple example

You would know better BCB1 but I would question why nobody from Crossmaglen is in the management team and haven't been through McGeeney's tenure. I question why McEntee is working in Sligo and not in the Armagh setup and preparing for transition. Has McGeeney approached them and did they politely decline his offer? Or has McGeeney not bothered with them? All valid questions but doubt we will get answers.

Of course McConville has the winner's mentality but I would say a different faces area good thing.
