Star donaghy

Can I ask what he would bring to the table about performing at the highest level than day Oisin McConville wouldn’t bring? What would he have in terms of ‘the mentality of winners’ that Oisin doesn’t have? 1 simple example

The attributes he’s gained from basketball maybe? Awareness of the players/space around you, playing with the head up, always looking for a simple/quick pass or layoff. Quick hands basically. I think all players can benefit from that as you don’t get much time in the ball these days. Look at O’Donoghue’s goal v Mayo in 2014 for Donaghy at his best.

Donaghy was good at sticking the arse out, stopping his marker from jumping for the ball. Wee things that players might not think of.

I’m not saying Donaghy is the answer or we’re going to start lumping the ball into Lurch at FF at every opportunity (although I do think the odd ball in there does no harm). But he might add something different.

Fair points- and although I am not from Cross I have long been calling for a change in the Armagh management set up and I have previously called out that we should have Tony McEntee (In place of Mcgeeney - not with him).
However - as we appear to be stuck with Geezer for at least another year - I suspect the Cross boys would not come in as 'assistants' to him.
Hence getting Star in is a positive.

I would say there is lads closer to home that would think of this. This had definitely been thought of before 2004. Would you agree bcb1?

Absolutely....my fat hole was absolutely my best asset back in the day and at 45 I’m still using it in Reserve football! Jesus you’d swear what Donaghy did was revolutionary!
