So assuming the Monaghan v Kerry game finishes as it is at the minute with Monaghan beating Kerry, it'll mean that the next round of 4 games will have 3 dead rubber games and only the Donegal v tyrone outcome having any meaning or bearing on the final pairings.

This is exactly the scenario that was predicted to happen when the idea was first brought to our attention. Seems it really is only a cash cow after all!

In fairness I'm enjoying these 4 games a weekend were getting at the minute, some high quality football being played.

Yeah I suppose they haven't been bad without bringing the world alight, but with two completely meaningless in the final round it still isn't what we were told. I mean where is the £350m a week that was so loudly shouted about?

Standard of refereeing needs to improve dramatically
That's a country wide problem at all levels, it is hard to be a ref tho, I don't know who said it but I believe it may have been an afl ref who watched the sport once described gealic football as a game of half-rules and I can totally see the point he was trying to make. The rulebook is too open to interpretation with every ref having his own view which leads to the inconsistencys across different game's. Doesn't help either that most fans don't know the rules either.

Anyone else see Brolly on The Sunday Game? What a nuisance - and a bore. Des Cahill was so fed up with him - rabitting on about the Paudie O'Shea cup and Roscommon should be in that on all Ireland final day. Rte seriously need to get rid of him - it is embarrassing.

Yeah Brolly was quite good when he originally joined the show and was well informed, but he has turned into a bit of a muppet and is more interested in his profile and controversy and is just cringeworthy now. Agree it really is time to go.

Daft comment from brolly. Roscommon are in div 1, therefore a top 8 team.

Does that mean the top 7 are only allowed in the race for Sam? Maybe we should have 30 teams in the second tier and allow Dublin v Kerry straight into the AI final.

Kevin McStay get's a 12 week suspension for "putting his hands on a linesman while remonstrating" and then "strikes the linesman on the head with a football". Kieran McGeeney "scares" Joe McQuillan by asking what a free was given for. Seems fair enough and proportionate!

Aye, but McGeeney did have one of those 'Scream' masks on at the time ;)

Does seem a bit unfair all right.

By the way, that ball that hit the linesmans head was as funny as frig :D

Yer man a couple years ago was hilarious too. Handed someone his glasses then got stuck into the melee. You couldn't help but laugh.

I remember seeing another one on bakemagazine of some bloke turning to smack and aul...... sorry, elder gentleman easily in his 70's and missed. The au....... sorry again, elder gentleman chinned him once and knocked him out cold. Needed ambulance help. Real childish but the tears were tripping me.

Apologies, I digress again. Back to the boring 8s
