I think the GAA brought in a rule after the Newbridge issue, to stop the same thing happening again. In all honesty, HQ was made to look weak over the Newbridge thing. So their egos weren’t going to take a knocking again, which was why they dreamt up a new rule.

So if you know and expect 15,000 in attendance and the capacity of the venue is 7,000 do you stick to 7,000 in attendance or go for a larger venue. It's not like a concert where you can put on another show
Remember we have families, older persons, disabled persons all looking to attend

It's a difficult question to answer because it's like one of those multiple questions that you 5 options seems to have 2 right answers but you're only allowed to select one.

It can be argued both ways it's Antrim's fault - shouldn't have closed casement at the time. It could still be open but then the stand was not in great shape.

Every county should be able to play at home if their grounds meet the standards. However if the standards are met but doesn't meet the capacity required for the anticipated attendance should spectators lose out. There are always spectators who miss out
Don’t think it’s Antrim’s fault, Casement is very much an Ulster GAA issue. Everyone knew the situation regarding their home ground, they invested in Corrigan Park while the Casement debacle rumbles on so should be allowed to use it. So what if some people can’t attend? That’s football and it happens all the time.

But will only be consisting of D1 and D2 teams
Div 3 and 4 teams will have their own back door though.

But here’s a thing...if a Div 3/4 team reached their provincial final (eg. Fermanagh), will that mean the Sam Maguire will have 17 teams?

Or more than 17, if more div 3/4 teams reach their respective provincial final?

No.
The next lowest div 2 team drops out

No.

No,
If in the instance a division 3/4 team make their provincial final there will more than 16 teams in the race for Sam. In this case there will be a Preliminary round in the qualifiers.

Prelim = if more than 8 teams are in the AI qualifier pot teams will be drawn out to play a prelim round, remainder through to round 1

Round 1 = all division 1 and 2 teams that don’t make provincial final. 8 teams, 4 games.

Round 2 = 4 beaten provincial finalists v 4 round 1 winners.

Quarter finals = 4 provincial winners v round 2 winners.

Semi finals and finals as normal.

I see Cathir O Kane has confirned in Irish news today that Ciaran Mackin is indeed out for rest of season with eye socket injury and that Rory grugan and A murnin are both struggling for Fitness, grugan has a foot injury and looks like Murnins Hamstring has gone again.
Not good folks, looks like we could potentially be missing 6 guaranteed starters for the game depending how you see Soupy,s role on the team
