Was that a Clonmore player I spotted in the first episode? Definitely looked like their Jersey and track top.

I always thought that the underdogs was all about giving club players a chance that never got to play county. Is Yer man in that team not the Kerry wan that got suspended from county footie for some drug test?

As far as I can remember the stipulation is that you can't have played senior inter county championship football & the fella you are referring to had only played during the league.

Having heard him discuss the reason why he failed the drug test & the aftermath for himself & his family as a result of it I hope he does get another opportunity to pursue his dream of playing county football.

Yeah I wasn't sure and everyone deserves a second chance (Boris.............Donald..............Hmmmm! Maybe not everyone) and I wasn't sure what the actual rule was and what his playing status then was. I just thought if they had been with the county it ruled them out. Although if I'm honest, the fact he even trained with a senior county team, then that should have barred him from this set up, but hey it's just my opinion and we all know there are opinion police.

I haven't heard his reasons why he failed, but presumably it still broke the rules and therefore he got excluded. Otherwise he had a case for screaming it from the highest heavens.

Good auld player though.

I’d say you’d find it fairly hard to enforce the rule on never having trained with the county and at that, most above average players in any county will have gone to trials and training at some stage for the county.

Yeah I guess I didn't really think that through and possibly mean, regardless of when or what competition they played in, then that would debar them from taking a place from someone else.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the series and believe that all players are worthy of their shot, just think it's unfair if they have been part of a county set up and played. Hope maybe that explains better what I'm thinking.

Still a good auld player though!
