Tremendous result, great to get back to division 1 and let's see what happens. I liked see McKenna come on, I really think he could be a real threat for us. Was a strange ta and fro game but we were by far the better team. The O'Neill's, grugan, Sheridan, soup were brilliant imo. We still have major problems at GK though, the lad is not up to is in my opinion, there are better keepers in Armagh without doubt.

Can you suggest a better keeper?
I've seen better keepers in the junior League this year and intermediate. It's not a personal attack on the fella, I'm sure he's a great lad but he's not up to it. The goal today was comical, he dropped a free catch in the first half, he did the same last week and he has a habit of chipping it to the opposition CHF. It's not just one game, it's been going on for 2 years. McEvoy got absolutely slated between the sticks and I'd wager he made less mistakes than our current incumbent.

Great result in the end but boy do we make hard work of these games! Not an easy venue and Clare are decent at best but we should have been a little more comfortable. O'Neills were superb!! We have a major problem between the posts, Blaine a great lad but alarm bells for division 1 - just simply too small!

Blaine is a great lad. Commitment second to none and a hard grafter in training I believe. His height and presence does raise a few questions, similarly his kickouts consistency. But at the same time, he's pulled us out of holes too.

I mentioned our own club man before, Gerry McGarvey. The wrong side of 30 maybe and married not that long ago but he's been instrumental in our campaigns over our last few years at Senior level. He has a brute of a kickout and at the same time can be subtle and accurate with shorter efforts too. Decent shot stopper to boot. Well worth a look at in my honest opinion.

Few others I know of that are capable of challenging for a spot, young Shea Magill from Killeavy who I think is on the panel at the minute. Probably not far off competing for a spot.

Ryan Kearney from the Ógs a handy operator too. Generally quite accurate with the kickouts and a decent footballer in general. Seems fairly able to control his defence and comfortable under the high ball.

I know Paddy Burns' brother Conor is or certainly was until recently playing Club Football at Senior level in Dublin, I think Fenton's club Raheny. You'd imagine playing at that level he'd be capable but can't comment as I've not seen him play.

Anything to be said for another stint for Paul Courtney

After a few seasons of disappointment, bouncing between division 2 and 3 let's just enjoy tonight before we start analysing how we will cope in division 1.
we are back in top division and that will do us good. Will get experience we have been missing..its not prefect and by God it's not good for the heart but it's great to be back at the top.
Well done to everyone involved..
Trust Armagh to get promoted when none of us can be there lol. Would have been a great night in Clare.
Virtual pints anyone?

What happened to McEvoy is what I am afraid of in regards the same happening to Blaine.

Blaine as others have said is a super lad. Philly got a raw deal and it did have an effect on him personally.

I'm not sure that there are too many better in the county - it is a worry for us yes and has been a problem position for a few years but Blaine has done super on many occasions.

Kearney from the Ogs is a super keeper but he walked from the panel. Magill in time may dislodge Blaine but I haven't seem too many others that I would say yes - he should be starting for Armagh.

The Conor Burns as a keeper was an unknown to me - I can only remember him playing outfield - I think he represented Armagh at minor or u21 outfield.

My opinion is that we are very quick to jump on Blaine to point the blame. I may have tinted glasses on as I know him personally and have a lot of time for him.

I'll repeat my first point - we don't need another McEvoy incident.

On a side note let's hope we get back into AG before next year as there are some super teams coming to town.

I don't agree re. Hughes but this is a great post mate.

Promotion is an excellent achievement - fair play to the players and management. It should do wonders for some of the younger members of the team to play more often against the best opposition.

We made it very difficult today, but got there in the end. The composure and wee bit of class in the last ten minutes was the difference. Would be great if this composure was always evident - I think at times we still get unduly panicked when opponents get a run on us.

The attacking talent we have at the moment is a joy to watch. But there are clear imbalances and weaknesses in the side. No point going over these because they're well noted, but they will put limits on our potential without improvement. You can only trust that those involved will do their best to come up with the required solutions in the next while. And division one football is where you really find out what works and what doesn't.
