Looks like the weekend will end with Laois on 3 points and every other team in Div 2 on 2 points.

Reflecting overnight on the game and reading posts on here, I am thinking I was one of those who highlighted the fact that Cavan cut through the centre of our defence with ease last week. The blanket defence may have been a response to that but we didn’t have the pace or energy to counter attack in a way that would hurt Laois. The loss of Forker and Grugan beforehand was a blow but, our tackling was indisciplined at times and our kick-outs need an overhaul.

A few people have mentioned that Kildare’s expansive style will suit us better. There is no doubt that packed defences don’t suit us but listening to the radio earlier today, the commentary suggested that Kildare under Jack O’Connor are much less expansive than before. Anyway, I am a McGeeney supporter and I hope he and his management team can learn from last night - I believe they will. Over the past couple of years, Armagh’s desire to play football and ‘have a go’ has been welcomed by all supporters so let’s build on that foundation and move forward.

Was at the game and it was very poor
- We had no left footed forwards - Jamie should have started
- Didn't push up on the Laois kick out early enough, did we fear their mid field?
- Og Burns should have started, heard he is in Liverpool and missing training, thats why he's not starting
- Few guys were poor but cant write them off after one bad day
- Our kick out strategy isn't right - need an odd long one to help break the blanket
- Pitch was very poor imo ! - anyone else think this ?
- Ref was poor but wasn't the difference.

What makes you think McGeeny and his management team will learn or improve at this stage?????

Good forwards wasted by having no discernable defensive structure, a poor kick out structure and poor in- game management as usual.
Lose next weekend and we are in relegation battle.

Jesus, I wasn't at the game so can't comment on performance or individuals, but I came on here for my usual fill of over reactions and melt downs and was certainly not disappointed.

Mods- Can you really consider closing this place in the 48 hours following throw in. We had a previous good forum closed down for personal attacks and insults and this one is in danger of going the same way which would be a real shame.

Jesus settle lads, its only the second game, did you expect us to go the entire league campaign unbeaten? We are second, and if the leagues ended today we would be promoted.

Some of the expectations on here need reigned in, we are not a top 8 team on a consistent basis, a top 10/12 yes. The aim should be the super 8s and an ulster title tilt. Lets not lose sight of that. It wouldn't matter if Jim Gavin was managing us, that's the reality of it.

It would matter if Jim Gavin was managing us. For all the guys we have on the line and in the stands the same mistakes are still being made.

Outside maybe one or two posters, I think most have been realistic, honest and kept the debate informed. I dont thin it has been completely over the top. I dont think anyone here doesnt want the best for Armagh.

I realise your comment on the 48 hour thing may have been tongue in cheek, but we try and stay out of things no matter how heated debate gets.

Vile or vicious attacks would be completely different. When it comes to personal attacks on players, the forum so far has been quite good at self regulating with members letting others know if they've over stepped the mark with comments - look back over that last two days. In the same way we will not enforce an anonymity cover for any member because if you post here and it's unacceptable, please don't expect us to allow anyone to do that undercover with our blessing. Many members are well known. We don't accept the keyboard warriors argument as Facebook isn't done undercover of a username and some of the posts on the official county Facebook would surprise you. Basically if you post something (not you personally @armaghtimmy but members in general), be prepared to stand over it. If you are outed, that's fair enough.

The official forum was shut down because certain club members couldn't deal with comments made on it. They didn't believe the argument that they would lose control over moderation. We were up and running just before it closed which was coincidental as it took us quite some time to get set up and it was always our intention to set up against the official forum to give everyone an unregulated voice and it just gave us a free run. Our intention is to allow craic and banter. If you read original posts we asked that members self regulate and that was the consensus at the time and that's the way it remains.

If anyone really thinks we should have a 48 hour break (or whatever time period) after a defeat, then we suggest that you take that break voluntarily and rejoin when it suits, ignoring past comments and just carry on. A break will not happen as everyone is entitled to their comment, no matter how stupid it makes them look - yes that line is deliberate.

Good having that clarification especially with thon milkman (@PatMustard ) doing the rounds. At least I can let people know he's really Willie Mullins so we can all appreciate why he's so good at running competitions!
