Yeah that's the only real one I thinks wrong, young O'Neill definitely should of got one
In fairness he was kept very quiet in final. Probably tricky enough trying to only pick 15 players across 3 championships.

Also would have liked to see Aaron Kernan get some kind of career recognition award as he steps away.

Anyway, nice bit of fun for the lads who got one, and congrats to all the all stars and other award winners, doubt too many will be losing sleep over not getting one, but sure it gives us boys something to pass the time talking about until the league starts!

Yes very strange to see Rian there and then the brother getting overall player of the year, yes they won the championship but McParlan finished top scorer from Midfield and albeit my glasses are tinted I think he had a better case. I didn't really see Oisin do a lot to be honest. Also felt young Mc Clarnon was hard done by as he marked most of the top players in all of our top games and he marked them very well. Rico couldn't have been that outstanding imo opinion to usurp him. I would also question the inclusion of Mc Carthy, in the game against us he just literrally fouled Shane for 70 minutes before he got the black card. Some people see this as doing an oustanding marking job buit for me it was just constant fouling and def not worthy of any accolades. The only other game I saw with him in was against Silverbridge and I think he was taken off. However it isn't an easy one and nobody is ever going to agree on the final team. I would just like to know who picked them and their process for doing so.

So the team that convincingly won the championship final should only have 2-3 all stars???? Oisin O'Neill had a brilliant club championship campaign for cross and drove the game on for them against madden. I agree re: Rian - I would've had Cian McConville ahead of him. McPartland missed 3-4 score able frees for Clans in final and tbh there big players (Soupy, Callum O'Neill) didn't stand up that day - similar to Cross players v Trillick.

However, Aaron Kernan was Cross's most important player in this years championship and should've got a place. No one's ever happy and of course you want to see your own club men getting them. Very few will ever pick the same 15. That's why I don't like these all star awards..

I'm surprised at the absence of a couple, most notably Callum O'Neill and Tiernan Murphy.

Also thought the Madden keeper may have been included.
In fairness to young O'Neill, he barely got a touch of the ball in the final. Had a good campaign up to that.

The Mc Carthy one is baffling!

Don't understand it at all.

Rian deserved one for his performance against Madden.

I rewatched that game a few times. Oisin, Cian and Jamie made the scoreboard look better towards the end but it was Rian who swung the game.

Rian is by a distance the best footballer in Armagh. Indeed he's the best in the best part of 20 years. Does that contribute towards his selection? Possibly.

But if Rian has a 6/10 day he gets slaughtered. Nobody else does. That alone speaks volumes about how highly even the begrudgers rate him.

Fair enough, I know if I’m ever harsh on him or critical it’s because I know what he’s capable of whereas the same performance from another player and you’d say they did well if that makes sense.

He’s the ability to be one of the best players in the country as does Oisin and as Armagh supporters I’m sure we all want them to show it as often as possible, we need them both on top form if we want to be competing at the business end of the championship.

It's always hard to do all stars especially when it's over the 3 grades usually only winners and runners up get them, I do think some players had good years like Murphy but because they didn't go far enough he was never going to get one, McCarthy had a good year but he shouldn't of got one because they where knocked out in semi final, surely young O'Neill should of got the one he got,Id of given poty to mcparland but was delighted to see Oisin O'Neill get it, great player and after a few bad injuries it was good to see him back,

I agree with this, Rian has the most talent I can remember in an Armagh player, we all want him playing well, and I'd say we can all be harsh but that's just down to that we all know the level he can perform to, his performance against Monaghan that Ulster game we shipped all those goals in was one of the best individual performances I seen

But talent isn't everything. It also takes attitude and application- and too often there are signs that Rian can be lacking in these departments. He needs to get back to basics, stop thinking he is a superstar and show on a regular basis that he is a top top player.

I am a big fan of his, but I would be concerned that he might not fulfil his full potential.

Yes talent isn't everything and we have seen talented players not fulfil their promise I really hope he does fulfil his and I think he will, it takes some commitment to be a county player and the fact he is doing that is a sign he has a good attitude. I think oisin is every bit as good as him and seems like a good lad too,

I don't recall saying Cross should only have had 2 or 3, but the ones that get them must be deserved. This isn't about potential it's simply about performance and in this year's competition there was no way Rian O'Neill deserved this imo.

I agree on Kernan, he makes/made the cross tick, he called most of the defensive structure and he launched a high number of attacks.

I would have had 3/maybe 4 clans players in it, the 3 that got and young Sam. I never seen much of the intermediate but the Cullyhanna lads that got one all had a great final.

Would have included AK, Cumiskey, Oisín O'Neill for sure. Jamie Clarke or Cian could also have made the fold. For me there was no greater an individual performance than Campbell against CE and the greatest feat was Mc Partlan finishing top scorer from MF. For that reason he was my POTY.

It's an opinion piece and if you had 10 in a room picking these things it's likely there will be 10 diff teams. I just feel there has to be real justification for securing such a thing and the team that was picked there were a couple that just looked like one for the boys.
