Another year for Geezer

This must make him the longest serving Armagh manager at this point? Maybe some of the “older” forum members can confirm.

After this years performances no way was it going to be anything else - and rightly so.
But we do need to see more progress - l8ke winning Ulster or getting AI semifinal.

8 years is a long time - especially when he has won so few championship matches, so next year he has to deliver more.

Otherwise - it WILL be time for change. Who knows what some top manager might achieve with the players available in the county? Other counties would not be so tolerant or patient.

Agree with most of this but I'd query the winning of Ulster given the new structure coming in.
There is no bonus for winning Ulster or indeed any provincial apart from Munster for Kerry to give them games.
It's going to get harder for counties to win the AI unless they have an extensive squad to with stand injuries.

What is the new set up? Is it 8 provincial finalists and then the 8 highest places teams in league in 4 groups of 4? If so it's minimum 1 championship game and 3 championships games. 2nd and 3rd play off in the group stages to get to quarter final? So more benefit to win the group than a provincial. Changes the dynamic. All Ireland Semi Final is the minimum target then to be considered a respectful season.

Also when playing in Division 1 and then going into round robin groups of 4, the minimum aim should be finishing at least top 2 and winning the play off round to get to a quarter final then semi. There won't be 3 or 4 division 1 teams in each group of 4. So really we should be looking at anything other than an All Ireland Semi Final as a failure.

So unless a division 3 or 4 team get into province final it will be 4 groups of division 1 and 2 teams

Is there a split of provincial winner / provincial loser and next top 8 for each group

I've been critical of him in the past and would have had him gone years ago but we had a good year this year and it feels like we are (finally) on to something with this team so leave him at it for another year. Silverware in 2023 is a must however, it has been too long!
